Why thanks. I like yours too. I did a shot similar to yours a while back. I was outdoors loaded with 100 film. Went into this place and saw this. I really needed 400 film. But I opened the lens all the way up and picked the lowest shutter speed I was comfortable with handheld and hoped for the best. It was a couple of stops under exposed but scanning is so forgiving.

Camera: Pentax (I really can't remember which one, but must be either K1000 or ME-super)

I tried my best to balance the transition from light to dark (left to right)

Canon AT-1
50mm 1.8 SC (stopped down)
Ilford HP5 400 (Lab developed and scanned)

Edited in Photoshop CS5

I used a Plug in called PercepTool...it is a really useful tool for enhancing B&W images.

George DeWolfe Photography PercepTool

Womble - I really like that photo....just something about it...not sure what it is exactly.

Yes, I think I was lucky. A problem free FED2 with a nice Industar lens. It seems to be the case that Soviet lenses can be really nice but quality control wasn't up to much so it is a bit of a lottery if you get a good'un or a bad'un.

Best wishes, Kris.

Yep...I have bought and currently own several FSU lenses. One was simply defective new from the factory (my first Zenitar 16/2.8 fisheye) and the Industar is just not right...low contrast and not really very sharp. I also have a Jupiter-8 50/2 in Contax/Kiev mount with a bad diaphragm, but other than that, the rest of the collection is pretty good.

My favs? Helios 44M (M42), Jupiter-9 (M42), Jupiter-12 (Contax/Kiev and LTM), and Helios 103 (Contax/Kiev). Oh, yeah and the Zenitar 16/2.8 Fisheye! How could I forget the Zen!!!
