So much to like in this photograph. Really great composition, values, curves, circles, lines--everything works so well, I'm there... And all with the Russian gear. Just great.

Thanks David.
The Jupiter-8 is an interesting and slightly quirky lens. It has a fair amount of pincushion distortion. I had to do some lens correction on this shot.

I am glad to see that the Zorki-4 has been taken out for some fresh air! I have not noticed any distortion with my J-8s. I have two in M39 (1978 and 1984) and one in Contax/Kiev mount (1967), and am sorry that yours is that way. Great photo though.

Edit: I just took a straight-edge to a couple of my J-8 shots and surprise, surprise, there is pincushion distortion. The amount is not huge, but is definitely visible when compared with a known straight reference. I guess that is another good reason to avoid straight lines and level compositions!

Here's a shot from my J-8 with a grid overlay. This shows the pincushion distortion, which seems like a lot for a 50mm lens. It is a 1930s design though, and a Sonnar.
Is this about what yours is like?

Mine is only about half as severe.

A couple of Paris shots. Pentax K1000, M135 f/3.5 Neopan 400 (accidentally) shot at 3200 in Tmax dev.

View across Pont Alexandre III.

View down Champs-Élysées. I hadn't noticed the bird and initially thought it was a scratch on the neg.

Oh yeah. If that seagull would have been a little lower with only the road behind it, that would have be an even cooler shot.
