in praise of cheap setups:

K1000, A 50mm 1.7, Kentmere 400 (first roll of this super cheap b&w film I've ever shot. I'll shoot it again)

Beautiful tones. I am with you that it looks to be worth shooting with.

You have a nice Nokton, a pity I can't find it on ebay, they just have it in Nikon mount and it costs more than a Nikkor 50mm f1.2...

They come up every once in awhile, both at auction and in the marketplace on this site.

Great results with a very demanding set-up.

Thanks! I had setup to shoot some pier shots over the water and choose b&w film. The bird just happened to come by, now I wish I had loaded colour film.

Have you got any photos of this behemoth in action?! What tripod do you use? Do you use an additional lens support?

Thanks guys!

I’m using a Manfrotto 028B Triman tripod, a Manfrotto 229 3D super pro head and a Manfrotto 359 long lens support for the 6x7 camera end.

Here is a picture of the tripod setup, but it’s showing the 35mm K1000/8 lens and not the 6x7 600/4:

And one shot of the 6x7 600/4 at home:

The 600/4 is a lot shorter than the K1000/8, but weights more and is wider.

A while back someone asked about my setup for copying B&W negatives using my K3. Last night I "scanned" a couple of rolls of film so I took a photo.

The K3 with DA 35mm ltd is mounted on a tripod at the edge of the table. The strip of film is in a Lomography Digitaliza 35mm (intended for flatbed scanners) and in my home-made (shoe-box) holder. Behind the Digitaliza are some home-made diffuser panels and then the flash, which is fired wirelessly using a transmitter on the K3.

And here are some of the results. These were taken on my Yashica Minister III on Fompaan 100 film in the old loft of my wife's late grandmother's house.
