Are you adding the vignetting or is it natural? I noticed it from the 645 and the Rollei, so I wasn’t sure...

A trip into the heart of Vienna, 1993

A day (or maybe two) spent as if I was a tourist in my native city. Pentax LX, Ilford 400 Delta developed in Ilfosol-S 1+14, negatives copied using Pentax K-1 with smc Pentax-D FA 50mm Macro. Lenses used are best guesses (the 28mm Shift is a safe bet in most cases).

smc Pentax Shift 1:3.5 28mm

smc Pentax-M 1:1.4 50mm

smc Pentax-M 1:1.4 50mm

smc Pentax Shift 1:3.5 28mm

To be continued.

Pentax smc K 105mm f/2.8

For some reason Pentax did not make more versions of this focal length back in the film era.
This focal length was one of my favorites when I was shooting with digital Nikons.
I have re-discovered it again...

Brilliant photos with your LX, wkraus. What lens or lenses were you using with your LX? Your photos look like you shot them with a medium format camera. I'm sure that macro lens you used for duping the negs had a lot to do with it, but the first lens had to record all that information for the macro to exploit.

Thanks for the kind words Michael! I did not record the lenses I used back then, but I noted my best guesses with every image I posted. My standard kit until 1994 was 28mm f/3.5 Shift, M 50mm f/1.4, M 100mm f/2.8 (at some point I switched to A 100mm f/2.8 Macro), M 200mm f/4. Copying the negs with the K-1 in Pixelshift mode with the DFA 50mm Macro turned out to deliver better results than scanning with the Hasselblad (Imacon) X1 that I have access to. The X1 tends to overemphasize the film grain without providing a lot more resolution, not to mention the time factor. The last test I did was comparing the DFA 50mm Macro with the DFA 100mm Macro. While the 100mm has slightly better contrast it also has more CA and off-center resolution falloff.

Fascinating. Especially your explanation regarding your duplication setup. Makes me want to start saving up for a similar outfit. I've been happy with my 24.3mp NEX 7 and 55mm f/2.8 Micro Nikkor AIs, because I'm able to resolve even Kodachrome grain. But yours would suggest that there's even something more and better to be had.

I've known for years about just how sharp Pentax lenses can be so it doesn't surprise me at all you were using Pentax primes for those shots.
