Doesn't look like you have much of a choice. You'll have to push a 400 or shoot a 3200 film.

I know, but it was my favorite high speed film. Never really liked the kodak ones. The Ilford is ok, maybe I will ahve to get used to it

Not actually B&W film...but a B&W conversion. I shot a roll of Redscale stuff for the first time a while back, not really knowing what to expect. Quickly found out that redscale suits some scenes and not others. For some reason, it didn't occur to me until today that a B&W conversion would salvage the ones that didn't look good in redscale...

Super Program, SMC Pentax-A 50/1.7, Lomography Redscale XR with Lightroom 3 B&W conversion:

400TMY pushes to 1600 just fine. You may not get the crushed blacks if that is your taste when processed well. But an image editor should make quick work of that if you want it.

I think Maco/Rollei makes an 800 speed B&W film. It wouldn't have to be pushed as far to get the 1600 speed as the 400.

Thanks. The problem is that dark skies show up dust specs on the negs. I've managed to get rid of them on the scans with photoshop but I'm worried about how they will look on the 16"x12" wet prints. I must start looking into the various methods of spotting RC prints.

I can't quite work out what time of day the shot was taken? What camera/film type?

the first picture is a bit plain for my taste, but the second one I do like, somewhat mysterious.

About the dust spots, just use a blower to get rid of dust on your negs (or just blow with your mouth, just watch out for spit). And with wet prints, you wonīt see too much of dust anyway if it isnīt too big, the little curvature of the light hitting the paper will get rid of it.
