I love Abbesses station with its art nouveau entrance and its association with "Amelie" (we also go to the cafe des 2 moulins in Rue Lepic where she worked). The first time we arrived at Abbesses, we ignored the elevator and walked up the stairs with our luggage. Big mistake...... you obviously know how deep that station is

If you had any idea how many tourists I've been laughing in silence at when waiting for the elevator at the platform level...
Yeah, I was living up in "the village" (as we called it) for 7+ years, it's a nice hood, but it's been changing a lot the last 10-15 years, lots of nice little cafés and bars and other waterholes that have had to give in for fancy clothes stores and touristy "mish-mash" and fancy crap stores as a result of rents going up ridiculously due to the popularity increase, maybe partly after the Amelie movie... (still I do like that movie, it has a really nice message...).
