I love your Lomo shots, Colton! Great work! What is your opinion on the Belair? I learned that it has just one shutter speed and two aperture settings. How does that work for you?

I just developed my second roll of film: Ilford HP5+ in D-76 1+1, 11 min

K 1:4 100 mm Macro, red filter

Ricoh 50 mm 1.7, red filter

K 1:4 100 mm Macro, yellow filter

I am unfamiliar with this walk. Padilla Bay is near my father's home. I should go out there the next time I pay him a visit.

It's about 2 mile walk or so along a slough with a couple of points of interest along the way. And then you walk back. To walk out in the flats of the bay you'd need rubber boots for the mud. I'd say it is fine to visit if you're in the area but not a place to plan a long trip just to see and take photos.

Thanks David. So far I'm enjoying the Belair a lot. I've mostly been "testing", or seeing what the camera can do. If you buy one expecting to get professional quality medium format result, you will most likely be disappointed.
I personally enjoy the break from seriousness that the Belair provides. I can't even use the VF, so it's really just a big P&S for me.
The Belair does have an electronically controlled AE shutter mechanism, which is limited to 1/125s on the high end, and I'm not quite sure about the low end. With the batteries removed, the shutter defaults to 1/125s.
As for aperture settings, IMO f/8 is nearly useless, so I just leave mine set to f/16.
Also, the 58mm lens is not that good at all (IMO), so I leave the 90mm on all the time.
As I wrote in an earlier post, my copy (and everyone's) has had issues with film tension and infinity focus. I think I've solved the first problem, as well has helped the second problem, by putting some scotch tape on the inside of the back to acts as a pseudo pressure plate.

Here's another shot from the same roll.

A lone 'tog on Brighton beach. Pentax KX, Kodak BW400CN film, not sure of the lens, possibly my M85/2 or maybe the A50/1.4.

(Also posted in the BW film images thread)

Thanks for the info, Colton! The Lomo definitely sounds fun and I really like the 12 X 6 format, but the word 'lomo' already tells you, that you can't expect performance on a professional level - especially if the lens contains a plastic element. I'm thinking about getting into medium format and currently check my options.
Cheers,
David

Sharper than my Holga 120N. Someone gave me a 6x12 (I think) pin hole Holga for a gift. I haven't used it yet. Maybe one of these days.

I saw a photo somewhere of a Holga 6x12 that someone cut the lens out and attached a Schneider - Kreuznach Angulon 90mm lens to it. It worked far better than a Belair

I never thought of that. That would make for a pretty slik pano camera with that lens. I had to look the lens up. It's pretty darn compact and quite the opposite of my Schneider - Super Angulon 90/8.

Found the photo. I was wrong, it was a Super Angulon.

I am a little confused or maybe not. Even with a 6x12 negative, the 90mm Angulon is still only a moderate wide angle and produces a pano in much the same way as if I were to mount my 90mm Caltar on the Chamonix with a 4x5 sheet and do a "letterbox" crop of the final image. In other words, the horizontal FOV is hardly extreme. A 60mm or 45mm on the other hand...
