Wow, great shots. I like your "back to basics" plan for shooting the wedding. I'm amazed you got such good clean shots and resolution from Tri-X at 1600 on 35mm film. They look better than my Delta 3200 on medium format!

Thanks. My "back to basics" approach was made possible because I wasn't a paid photographer for the wedding, so I could shoot as infrequently as I cared to, and just pop off a few shots of some fun moments.

Yeah Tri-X really surprised me. It was my first time to push it, and I was really happy with how the film responded. I have pushed HP5 to 1600, and liked it OK, but I really miss Neopan 1600! The pushed Tri-X was the best replacement I've found yet...

Kodak says you can shoot 400TX at EI800 and develop normally (no pushing) and still get good results due to its latitude. So EI1600 isn't much of a push for 400TX, apparently.

True. I used Ilfosol 3 and a standard development, but best results might come from a different developer and stand development. I'd like to try the latter but so far have found very little information on how long to leave it - everyone just seems to leave it for an hour with one mild agitation in the middle.

I'll have to read up on Ilfosol 3. Sometimes you have to pave your own road. Make a guess and give it try. You'll learn something regardless of the outcome. Maybe you'll find out don't go there or it could be one iteration closer to a solution.

I've given stand dev with Rodinal a try in a few situations. You get a compensating effect with a 1:100 ratio so the weak developer exhausts in the highlights quicker than shadows. In the case of Rodinal, you can kind of push a film with a semi-stand development with more agitation during that hour. Agitatie (more than one inversion if needed too) every 1/4 hour, for instance. And if more noticeable grain out of Delta3200 is the goal, Rodinal could make that happen. I'd guess all developers don't automatically make a good stand developer.

So look into how Ilfosol 3 behaves as a stand developer and if it is like Rodinal, you have a good starting point for your first try at pushing it one stop with stand.

I've got a roll loaded in my K1000 freshly back from a CLA - I figure I'd process it in 1+1 D76 - I understand the grain is finer in the more dilute solution than say "stock"... granted, the developing time is double. Aaahh...first order reaction kinetics how I miss you

Having thoroughly enjoyed the quality of work in this thread, I'm a bit hesitant to post some of my own, but here goes nothing!

These photos were both taken in a very small sleepy town in Central PA. ME Super, M28 F2.8, HP5+ developed in D76 1+1, printed on Ilford MGIV glossy RC, and processed in home-brewed D72.

The "king's" photo was shot in available light, wide open at 1/60....could have been a tad sharper.
