Well seen and taken.

Yup, that's where I was
It was definitely a little sketchy since I can hardly walk so getting across the highway took a little while.

First try with Xtol

Shot this past weekend at a local 1840's church. Lighting was pretty harsh, but an interesting day none the less. Pentax KX, M28 f2.8, on HP5+, developed in Xtol for 12 minutes, scanned on my new to me Epson 3200.

Having been weened on D76, I wasn't sure how I would like the Xtol, but the tones seem pretty good to me.

I've been working with D-76. Blackcloudbrew has been working with HC110 and that has be thinking I might want to change for the simple convenience of the solution mixing over dissolving powder. At any rate, if you all here were not in the loop we're running a "single in" challenge for April shooting film. Some folks on their K1000, others on their 645. I have borrowed a friends 6X7 and lenses. What an interesting departure from digital, and even 35mm to slow down and think about the limited number of shots per roll, and get the exposure and composition nailed. I'm cheating by shooting the DA 21mm first to figure my exposure... (I'm using 6x7 55mm f4.0) so far so good. So these were cross posted to Single Challenges, but I thought I'd share here.

A couple of favorites from the past few weeks.

Edit: Ooops... both are Delta Pro 100 and D-76 but the first is at 1:1 for 11 mins and the second is about 1.5:1 as I screwed up my calculations and during developing guestimated 10 mins developing time. Other details are posted with the Flickr posting.

Thanks Kerry!

Planning to go back under some different lighting conditions. So many possibilities in a site like this one...

Interesting shots, you don't fancy giving a bit of background info as to what's going on with the shoe tree, it's not something I've seen before and it's certainly not done here, is it a cultural thing?

Your guess is as good as mine. After posting to a local facebook group a number of folks commented that there were shoe tree's near where they live too. We have significant amount of tourist traffic related to winery businesses around here so it could be a marker to differentiate one tree from another, or a way to slow tour busses down so that folks want to stop and buy veggies / flowers / other local goods.

Thank you, I liked that one too - this whole exercise has got me reading Ansel Adams - a worthwhile endevour in itself.

We have them here too and nobody seems to know why they exist. The most extensive one I am aware of is about 1.5 miles up a trail into the woods near a stream. Go figure.

I just developed a role of HP5+ I shot with my new Yashica Electro 35 GX. On most of the images is a dark stripe visible to some extend (horizontal in landscape orientation). As the camera has a leaf shutter, I don't think that it's a camera problem. Did I make a mistake developing or is this a production error of the film?
In the image below the stripe is visible in the lower half. I straighten the image a bit - it was strictly vertical. The stripe is just in darker parts of an image visible.
Cheers,
David
