Okay, I asked and they use XTOL at exact manufacturer's timings but he would never use XTOL at home because it gives different results as it ages, as quickly as a week, and their lab system and the volume they do mean they always have the film in fresh chemicals. He also agreed that the new XPS is sensitive to developing differences, but he hasn't seen enough info to help him predict the changes. He did happen to say he had sharp results with Rodinal, but I didn't ask any details as they were closing.
Thanks for that.

I mixed my first batch of xtol a few months ago now, same 5L bottle, still going fine. From nosing around I believe they changed the formula a bit after that rumor started to get out there. It was only 16bucks for the pack so if I only got a couple months out of it that was ok. After using it I doubt I'll go back to rodinal unless I want more grain. I get as good or better results then the professionals! (which is $15 a pop!)

I would love to have the room for a darkroom, I've been toying with at least developing my own film.

tuco, is that Snohomish? I spent one year of my childhood living in that town with lots of good memories.
But more importantly, these images are excellent. I'd say you really nailed the exposure, dev and pp! Very well done!

You do not need a 'DarkRoom' to develop film -- just a 'changing bag' to load film into developing tank and a kitchen sink area -- you must have a sink surely ?

As pentaxpete says, no need to wait for a darkroom. I do mine at the dining room table and kitchen sink! Of course that is just developing and not printing. After developing I scan my negatives.

Interesting shots. Is it the nature of ILford to have more of a brown hue than the Tri X? Or is it just a difference of contrast that gives a sepia look?

Has anyone had much experience with Kentmere 100 and 400? I saw a few images in another thread or two; I spotted both 100 and 400 rolls this afternoon at a shop (alas, to discuss bringing in my ME which has a sticking shutter and also a Yashica with the same ailment) and picked up a few rolls of each.

Thanks!

Nah, I just toned it that way in this case... Here's another Delta 100 / Ilfosol photo, this time with a P645 and 75/2.8

I've shot Kentmere 400 and like it quite a bit, it scans well and has good tone. This one's 400 in Rodinal 1+50 semi-stand; Fed-3 and Canon RF 50/1.8
