T-Max 100 in either a Praktica MTL3 or Pentax SFXn, I don't know which.

I think I'm slowly getting to grips with post-processing these K3 "scans" to get decent tones out of the negatives. They have a tendency to look very flat with too much mid-tone and very little dark and light.

Shot some old Ilford XP2. I don't think I would use this film very often. Between having to pay for C41 processing and the high contrast of the results, it's not that appealing. Nice grain though.

Lousy lab left a water mark on the film! 200mm Takumar, always pleased when shooting film with this lens.

Own or lab scans? the grain in flat tonal areas is pretty obtrusive IMO (or it could be scanner noise). Can you pull up shadows in PP?

These are my own DSLR scans, usually it does quite well. I was really pulling blood from a stone to get the photos to this level, I think the film was a bit past it's prime.

Bright snowy scenes are pretty tough for any film... Pretty much all the xp2 shots I just googled up are pretty contrasty. I've been tempted to try chromogenic b+w films, but I find fast c41 colour film --> grayscale in post has that base covered well enough for my purposes atm.

Actually I quite like that first shot. The highlights hold better on my home pc display, work pc (mac actually) is too contrasty. Is that an old firehall? Anyway the dark trees lend it a gothic air.

Finally got my 135 UltraFine Xtreme 400 dialed in with Caffenol C-H After 3 12 shot home rolled test rolls and processing. Pentax P3n, with Pentax A 50mm 1:1.7

Thanks! Yeah, I need to colour calibrate my laptop screen, I wonder how accurate it is.

To be honest, I'm not sure what it was! To me it looks like it could be a fire hall, converted church or old school. It had a stone near the top saying it was built in the 1800's, which is fairly old for this area.

Don't understand some of the last few posts:-

XP2+ is very low contrast you should be able to expose between 50 to 800 ISO and have little problem printing at home, with enlarger or hybrid. Note best at 100 ISO!
Some of the other Mono shots look underexposed to me. If you hold the negative in front of light the shadows need to have silver, or they will be black. Shadows need graduation.

I set the ISO on my K1000 or SP to half the box speed or more normally use a Weston incident dome.

If you scan with a DSLR you may not get any benifit in using film.

My scanner is a toy plastic scanner for proofing shots before I wet print it won't give a reasonable mono print it is ok scanning E6 slides.

Mono was always difficult if you wanted a print like you saw in an exhibition... It could take a weekend getting one print, or a trash can of rejects.

The wedding shots I took on Kodachrome 25 all could be printed easily (cibachrome) cause they were incident dome on brides nose.

Brides only complained about size of their nose! Or husbands nose.
