My wife and I visited The Whitewater Canal State Historical Park. It was quite enjoyable to ride on a horse drawn canal boat. What a quiet way to travel.

It's been a while since I processed film! I'm trying to shoot as much RPX 25 as possible in August, here it goes.

Edit: I think these are ever so slightly reticulated, my fixer was too warm. Very much usable images still though.

And it's been a while since I shot my Fuji rangefinder. So I took it out for some exercise. But to my surprise more than half the roll ended up empty. There is a "gotcha" with this camera. The shutter speed is on the lens and you rotate a ring just like the aperture. But when the shutter speed mark is somewhere in between the time and didn't "click" into place, it is at some default speed that is really fast. Oops. This is about all that was worth scanning.

That old technology can catch the unwary. My 9x6 folder has two windows in the back to read the film number as one winds on , the top is for 6x6 and the bottom is 9x6. Guess who in future will tape over the window not to be used.
(forgetting to wind on, is another trap for destroying photos)

Yep. It seems you need to stay tuned up with your gear. Especially when you shoot different cameras. After shooting a SLR type for a while and then picking up a rangefinder it usually means forgetting to take the lens cap off.

Or a point-and-shoot (analogue). I've seen it happen before:

Photographer - "On the count of three, say cheese. One... two..."

Crowd - "LENSCAP!!!"

Thanks! I am happy with the results, I am being picky. :P

It's fairly warm in my basement, I didn't realize until too late, the fixer was around 78 degrees Fahrenheit. Really not idea, but didn't seem to have too much of an impact.

Too busy with manual labour to go out and take new photos today, so tonight I scanned some old ones. These were taken in May 1980 in Minorca, with a Pentax K1000, FP4 (maybe there was no + in those days), developed by a lab in Brighton called Paragon, and now scanned on the X1:

You all know she is still my favorite subject, so what can I say? I am still helplessly in love!

Yep that will do it.

Avirex flight jackets sure became popular after Top Gun came out, I still have a sheepskin B-3 from back in the day. It never gets cold enough here in Vancouver to wear it, so it's just collecting dust in the closet.
