My birthday brother.

Shot on paper negative, in a B&J press 2x3 with a 100mm Symmar Schneider lens

I think I missed the focus a bit, eh?

I bought a Pentax ME Super in 1984, but it died a couple of years ago. I found I could replace it very cheaply at KEH, but today that camera has failed too. Three shots exposed normally, and all the other so underexposed I'm not sure whether the shutter stuck or some electronic problems have struck. KEH can't help me this time (just a $3 'as is' ME Super). So I've found a K2 instead, as I do like aperture priority metering. (K1000 from 1976 and an MX still work fine, as do a couple of SF1s and an MZ-S.)

The K2 is very nice but ages badly, tending to gum up inside and require dismantling to clean and lube the mechanism.

I tried to resuscitate the ME Super today with new batteries and a roll of Acros. Better statistics, but four of the 24 shots still just didn't happen. I'm falling back on my 1976 K1000 for now when the need to use the 150/4 takes hold of me. IF the K2 works I hope I shall enjoy it too.

Very sharp pictures, but I am confused about the camera used. Rollei or Hasselblad?

I don't think they are that well made when I look inside them. Winder problems are common. Old electronic cameras are just not dependable. I will stick with manual myself.

The Hasselblad X1 is a scanner, not a camera. It must be a very nice one too, because on B&H right now it costs over $13,000.... but it's the cheap option for those that can't afford the X5 at over $20,000.....

ME Supers, while very nice to use, are probably the least reliable manual focus Pentax cameras around. Electronic and mechanical faults seem quite common.

In my defense, I had a second hand Flextight 848, which broke down around the time I started chemo. It made two trips to New Jersey before it was fixed and customs forms for entering the US are a nightmare. Not being sure of my future I said f___ it and bought the X1 to enjoy, and later sold the 848. When I relapse you may all approach the grieving widow with kindly offers to take that nasty, heavy, big thing away for her.
