Have you been before? It's a wonderful city (and country)
Ah. That makes sense. It will be our first time. Looking forward to it. I decided to only bring my film cameras, no digital. It will be a different travel photography experience.

Finished the expired film pack of Tri-X, Rated at ISO25, and processed it in PaRodinal in a Doran Tank at 100:1

A couple had serious light leak issues, but a couple managed to come out.

I recognize two of those, but where was the first one taken?

We turned north somewhere about the St Lawrence market, so it was either Jarvis or George, on the right hand side as we went up the road.

Fall fern

Chaika half-frame. FP4
A totally manual camera like theOlympus Pen. The 2.8 Tessar allows hand holding in forest light with100 speed film.

Must have been Jarvis. George is several blocks west (though it does look like something you'd see at UofT).

I just shot a roll of film in a little Olympus Pen EES2. Unfortunately, it has a reoccurring sticky auto-aperture mechanism. I found an online article on fixing the problem, which I have followed, but the problem returns. It also affects the manual aperture system, darn it.

What different kinds of film have you tried with the Chaika?

I really like that first one.

Earier today I scanned one of the first rolls I took with both my Cosina 19-35mm and K2 DMD. The film is Agfa APX 100. These were all shot at 19mm (almost the entire roll was - it's the widest field of view I've ever used on film or digital).

Just this FP4. With a max speed of 1/250 and smallest F of 16, 400 ISO film would be about the limit for full sun, and with half frame you want to keep the grain down.

Model is Chiaka II, before they had meters. Nice and rudimentary and metallic.

I think XP2 was the fastest I shot in my Chaika II before it broke—which meant f16 and 1/250 whenever I went outside. Mostly I just stuck with 100 ISO films though.

It's not bad with colour film either from what I recall, though the lens is perhaps a bit flat in terms of contrast.

I recently shot a roll of FP4+ full-frame 35mm and liked it very much. If I begin to shoot more half-frame, with the Pen or another camera, I may start springing for more expensive extremely fine-grain films like Neopan Acros 100 or Ektar 100. Considering how half-frame would get double the exposures per toll, it really brings the price down on relatively expensive film.
