Interesting to learn there are plane crash sites in the US with debris just lying around on the ground. I generally think of things like that being discovered on jungle islands that were fought over in WWII.
It was a training mission and for some reason they turned the wrong way and crashed into the side of the mountain. You can see they only needed a couple of hundred more feet to clear that dip in the top of the mountain.

It is high up in the mountains and you need either to hike in or you need a 4WD vehicle to get to it. People have taken the guns, props, gun turret and other things already. There is a placard in place with the story and names of the 11 crew members who lost their lives on 9 Feb 1945 at approximately 10:00PM - R.I.P.

Someone put the Oregon State flag there which became a state in 1859. The cash site is a few miles from the Oregon/Nevada borderline.

Here's a gear combo for you. The adapter is a bit loose and it made holding everything steady at lower shutter speeds difficult, but this one turned out. No idea who the person is; someone who leaned too close into frame when I went to hit the shutter.

Canon AE-1.
Nikkor-S Auto 50mm f1.4.
Bergger Pancro 400 (pushed to 1600).

There's an F to FD adapter?

There's a few.

Canon made an F to FL adapter in the mid '60s and an F to FD one in the early '70s, though they're functionally the same. Neither version was in production for terribly long, and they're probably the rarest of the various "Lens Mount Converters" that they made. (Mine's their second model. They have a bit of rotational play that's annoying at lower speeds, but otherwise hold the lens pretty solidly with no movement away from the mount that would affect focus.)

Roxsen also currently makes one. I've never used it, so no idea on the quality.

Interesting. Did Canon (FL/FD) have the shortest register distance of film SLRs?

Pretty much. Of the major manufacturers, I believe only Konica had a shorter mount.

(Canon made official adapters to use m42, Exakta, Nikon F, and Leica m39 lenses on FL/FD cameras — close-ups/macro only for that last one, obviously.)

About the Canon adapters, I have an "FD-Nikon" adapter I bought new off eBay. Dunno if it's a Roxsen -- it isn't labeled. I've used it with several different Nikon mount lenses on my Canon FD cameras. The lenses and the adapter lock up well. I also have two of the Canon M42 to Canon FL/FD. Incidentally, they're labeled "Pentax" not M42. And I also have a Nikon F body to Canon FD lens adapter -- some Chinese adapter I bought off eBay. It's reasonably well made. The lens won't focus to infinity, obviously, but I bought it so I could mount Canon lenses to my Nikon F mount bellows.

Yep, before the K-mount, adapters for the m42 lens mount often did say "Pentax" or sometimes just "P." But it was also sometimes called the "Universal Screw Mount" for a period of time, and I've seen m42 adapters that are labeled "U." I have an m42 mount adapter for my Konica AR mount camera body, and it is labeled "Praktica," since Praktica cameras also used that mount. It pays to study up on camera mount history if one is looking for m42 adapters!

Universal Screw Mount is an apt moniker -- probably the most universal mount ever created for SLRs.
