Who knows for how much longer -- they've just discontinued Acros in sheet formats.

Fujifilm Neopan Acros
Voigtlander Bessa I
Voigtlander G2 (Yellow) filter
1/100 sec, f11
(focus is on infinity, explaining why focus on too-near veterans monument is a bit soft)

Develop and Scan by Old School Photo Lab, New Hampshire
Slight straightening and tweaking of highlight and shadow brightness by me.

Despite this being the first time I have used it, I thought it was well-known as one of THE finest-grained iso 100 B&W films. If it is being phased out, I may have been wrong.

Kodak claims that T-MAX is THE finest.

Yes, they have a long history doing so and Acros is one of the best. In addition to fine grain and an interesting spectral response it also has remarkable exposure reciprocity response meaning one can make quite long exposures without the need to compensate with additional exposure.

Acros is quite comparable to TM 100 in terms of grain. They are both modern tabular grain emulsions. FWIW, despite T-Max being an excellent fine-grain film, there are several films, both past and present that beat it grain-wise. (Technical Pan was still in production when T-Max debuted and its grain is virtually invisible even under magnification.)

Steve

(...has a stash of Acros and 100' of Rollei Retro 80s in the fridge...)

Very nice Tuco, I love the MF square format. The two pics below were made experimenting on a new film that came in the market (in fact it is an old film factory that was shot down years ago: Ferrania in Italy.), the Ferrania P30. I got my first roll developed and I was not happy, so I posted four or five pics on the MF forum asking for advice on what I did wrong, and what do you think? Two of those were picked up by Flickr's EXPLORE yesterday and I got over 4K views on one. Here they are:

Those were shot with a Leica M6. However, I just finished developing the second roll taken with the SPotmatic F. I will post those tomorrow. Comments are welcome.

Not much. We are busy trying to find the best developer for the P30. In this moment I am scanning the second roll. I think Rodinal, stand development at 45min will do it. Agitation: 1 minute with the rotation tool that comes with the tank, and one inversion at 25min. No need to Stop Bath, the Rodinal is spent by then. Just rinse with water and pour the fixer. Then, wash and voila.

Shot much of this roll with the EF-C flash Minolta made for this camera, and I'd have to say that their effective ranges for it seem a little over optimistic. These two were shot without flash however, and turned out how I hoped.

Minolta AF-C.
Ferrania P30 Alpha.

Fomapan 400 with the MZ-6 and FA 77 Limited.

I was finally able to successfully create a home brew version of Rodinal. With this film, I'm getting better contrast and much finer grain than D76, or even Adox R09.

Tony: Those are really nice, sharp and shinning, especially for a ASA 400. Since you mentioned the Adox R09, I have a little bottle of it, but it says R09 EZPECIALLE. Is that the same Adox Rodinal? I have not used it yet.
