Did you pick up a stash of Acros before it was discontinued?

Last summer I went on a trip and took a whole bunch of different films just to get them shot up. The recent addition of my GX617 which only gets 4 frames per roll has really added to the number of rolls I come home with and need to develop. It makes for a lot more work when I have a bunch of different films and development times to process. I like to process my film in batches. It cuts down on the work and time. Hence the quest to reduce the number of films I shoot.

I think 400TMY looks a lot like 100TMX to me and with the flexibility of shooting it at either EI 400 or 100 with one film.
I bought out my local photo labs stock of Acros and a few more rolls from Ebay. This amounts to 20 rolls in 120 and 10 or so in 35mm.
At 8 shots per roll for the GSW690II that's 160 shots. Not that much I guess, maybe I should look for some more. I have enough for a couple of special projects or future trips however I do want to settle on another 100 ISO film for every day use.
Like you I prefer to develop in batches to save time. It's hard enough for me to find time to develop or shoot as it is.
Thanks for the explanation and samples, I appreciate it I also really like the sand dunes shot. It's a particularly interesting shot for me as that kind of contrasty light is very common around where I live. We are really spoilt for sunny days.

I bought some 4x5 Aristo Ortho Litho sheet film. Only 2 of 6 sheets have developed well, the last two I developed had really weird uneven development. I'm quite pleased with this shot of my dirty guitar amplifier. The Fender logo came out looking almost 3D, I'm quite impressed with it.

I've been using some Eco Pro paper developer for this, I think I should use a more dilute concentration to slow down the development time.

Clearly, your developing needs more bass and less treble! On a more serious note, maybe not enough agitation or you're getting laminar flow across the sheets is causing the uneven development?

Looking at the two sheets that were really bad, I think I need to take more care that they are totally submerged as soon as they go in the developer. Next time I'll put a bit more developer in the tray and pay a bit more attention.

What is this laminar flow you speak of?

Ps: I am going to give the control panel a good cleaning and do this shot again. Now that I'm thinking about... the artistic choice of where each dial should go is a hard one!

So you're doing tray development? Imagine a sheet of film submerged in a tray of developer. And let's say you lifted one end of the tray gently and let it back down. A wave would roll across the tray and bounce back. If speed of the fluid across the film is just right, you get what's called laminar flow. In this condition there is a very thin boundary layer common to the surface of the film where the fluid never moves out of this layer. The developer in this boundary layer gets exhausted. That's why we agitate film in a vigorous enough way to cause turbulent flow to replace that boundary layer periodically on an agitation schedule.

But of course that's not how you tray develop but lifting and moving the sheets in the tray just right may cause it to happen periodically. I use a Stearman Press SP-445 4x5 sheet film daylight tank. It makes processing sheet film just like roll film in a daylight tank.

A double experiment here. I picked up a Ricoh FF-3D at my thrift store for 2€, so I tired it out with some old gifted Kodak 200 color film. I home developed with Rodinal as a second experiment (1+25 for 5 min.) ... looks pretty good for what it is and I am going to put a nicer roll of real B&W film for another experience. A bit of street-type fun at the train station complex.
