My mother paid close to $300 for her first ‘scientific’ calculator in the early 80s ( about the time I got my K1000). She had to write equations on paper and tape them to the sides.

I left my good calculator at home on a trip and had to buy a new one on the road in 2011. It isn’t programmable, but it has all the normal scientific functions and cost all of $13 at Walmart. That was when I was shooting with my K10D...

I had a very lucky find in the "junk" camera bin of my thrift store on Friday. It was upside down and I did not pay attention to it at first ... but when I turned it over, I saw the big red dot. It was a Lecia Mini II for the grand total of 1€. Bingo and score!

So, after putting a battery in it and a roll of old, gifted Kodak 400 color film, I quickly went out to shoot through the roll as a first test. I home developed that night in Rodinal (1+25 for about 9 min.) and here's what I got. A roll of Fomapan 100 is in it now and will be finished quite soon ...

I don't post very much any more. Just picked up a cheap scanner used, hope to post a bit of my dark room experiments. I think this was taken with a Spotmatic and a helios lens. Nasty invasive plant, "Dog Strangling Vine"

Two IR photos I took with my Yashica Mat 124. Cropped to 8x10... I'm going to try printing them at 10x10 soon with some luck.

I know this isn't strictly film but need some advice. This is a digital film simulation. I used an LUT I found called Fuji Xtrans III - mono:- Fuji Film Simulation Profiles – Stuart Sowerby . I added in some Perlin and noise. Do you like this grain? if not what grain do you like in your photos? Although LUTs change tone, they don't contain grain information. The only way to get grain is to take a picture of a grey card and record the grain in a scan or picture. Any ideas?

does the Leica DX coding fall back to ISO 100 or does it have a way to manually set the ISO? Fomapan isn't DX coded...

I read the manual in French which I found on the web and the fall back is 100. There is no way to manually set the ISO ... too bad, but maybe I can load later 400 or other B&W film with the changing bag into a empty DX canister. A future project for a rainy day ...

Somebody made dx code stickers you can stick on the cassette. This was a while ago, not sure if they're still available. Maybe you could print your own?

I did see instructions online for making your own dx labels (also handy if you want to push the film in a point and shoot like my Yashica Super T4 or Olympus Stylus.

Firstcall in the uk sell dx stickers. They’re shipping outside the uk is kind of high so I’ve never tried them.

Can you also put a sticker or piece of tape over the coding?

I've never had a DX coded camera. A piece of black electrical tape wouldn't work?

not when you are trying to remove the black to change the code, you need shiny (tinfoil works) and Black (tape works) but really the printouts on the page O linked are a great solution just make your own and attach ....i don't use the T4 or the Stylus that often to spend the time making adjustments if the film has it and i want to bump the iso it is almost always about removing black , takes a few seconds
