Fuji do claim to have made some improvements to the new emulsion, which may have purists up in arms when it becomes available and they see it's different from the original. We'll have to wait and see how it performs. I wonder if it will have the same resistance to reciprocity failure?

As for price, I suspect that they will charge a ridiculous amount for it. I only bought Acros when I could get it at a reasonable price (when compared to other B&W films), and that wasn't very often, so I'd expect a significant price hike. The fact that it will initially be available only in Japan won't help with that as the online retailers will charge a premium for it being a Japan-only film.

Still, more film options is always a good thing.

I'm curious, of course. And my more suspicious side of me thinks improvements will mostly be on the manufacturing related side of things for them. But perhaps they've spent some money on research and development for characteristic changes to the film. And I also hope the film retains its long exposure capabilities.

When I shoot new film, it's a lot of work to establish a development for several different developers plus the time to learn the film's characteristics especially with sheet film. Only after that do I feel confident in predicable results instead of always on a learning curve.

My thoughts as well. IIRC, Acros was discontinued due to supplier issues. It appears that the new emulsion is a reformulation.

Indeed! The generous reciprocity extension with the old material is amazing. I hope that they retail the orthopan spectral sensitivity as well.

In one of the official statements, it had the following (via google translate)

QuoteQuote:
It is suitable for shooting in a wide range of fields, such as product photos and architecture photos, as well as long-exposure celestial and night-shot photographs.
Which doesn’t mention reciprocity specifically, but seems to imply a similar response.

I have posted this in another thread, but it really belongs here. I was very disappointed in how many of my exposures were of extreme contrast and unusable. This was one of the better ones that I was able to lighten the dark a little. Ilford Supre 400 C41.
I doubt it was an exposure problem, there were just too many failures for use of a light meter. Either the film was exposed to heat or Xrays, or the development was problematic. Have any of you had similar issues?
Yashica 35 (1958) has a very sharp lens.

Yeah, that doesn't look like the dynamic range of XP2. Both the highlights and shadows are in bad shape. I'd write that roll off and only worry if it happens again. One thing that could also be a variable is the condition of the C-41 chemicals that developed the film.

Yes, good points. I have a few more roll of this and hope this is the only bad one, as a previous one was fine. I am inclined to agree on the chemicals in processing being a likely culprit.

The most significant monument of genocide in Lithuania is the Ninth fort in Kaunas.
