I've been using the Epson V-line for a few years now.. From the V300 up to the V800 for my 4x5 scans. I don't think there's better multifunctional flatbed on the market for me atm.
Many thanks for the advice!

I personally recommend something from the Epson "V" -line of flatbeds (with transparency adaptors, for scanning film).

The price and model number goes up with basically the size of the transparency scan width. I've had the v600, bought refurb directly from Epson at ~50% discount from 'new', for a few years. It does two 35-mm strips, or one MF (2-1/4") strip at a go.

Flatness is an ongoing issue as the film holder isn't particularly good, but works ok with reasonably flat negs (you can purchase 3d-party solutions, which I haven't tried).

That, and keeping it dust free are the biggest hassles, but it generally yields 'pretty good' scans IMO.

Swift1 plays these scanners like a stradivarius ... the rest of us just do our best.
Many thanks!

Finally finished off a roll I've had sitting in my Holga for who knows how many months. This is one of the better results.

Finally got around to do my own scans. As suspected, those commercial scans were soft. I was able to improve on them.
No cropping or alterations other than contrast adjustments and the signature macro action.

1957 Asahi Pentax "AP"
Period correct Takumar 55 f2.2 preset
Kodak Tmax-400 (Expired in 2013 but always refrigerated)
EPSON 2400 scanner

Thanks,

Something about old cars in b&w that just looks so right. It could be a 42 but my guess would be 41 or 46, unless it has o.d green under that paint. Very few civilian vehicles produced in 42.

Okay, thanks. It was pretty rusted. I don't have a clue what the minor differences would be between years on this style of truck.

Thats ok, Gm (and most other manufacturers) turned their factories into producing equipment for the war effort, so actual cars from those years are very hard to find and pickups near nonexistent.

Enough history. Again, great picture.
