Ipernity is a very old-fashioned website under the hood. As it is a club, not a company, it has relatively limited funds. As such, it isn't https but still http and some browsers will just reject it for linking images. You can go into the security settings and make an exception, and it works OK (which is what I did on my phone). The odd thing is, Chrome on my PC works fine, Chrome on my phone does not. The Huawei browser on my phone works fine, and the Samsung browser on my tablet does too.

Ipernity is in the midst of a fund-raising drive to get someone to re-code the site. The interface is beautifully clean and elegant (the complete opposite of the mess that is flickr), but under the hood it is an old jalopy. What we are hoping to do is get someone to keep the design of the interface, but rebuild the inner workings.

A photo lab in Er-Rachidia, southeastern Morocco, 1985. Asahi Pentax MX probably with smc Pentax-M 1:2.8 100mm, Ilford HP5 film/Promicrol 1+3 developer.

The Lumichrome film was introduced in 1931 (https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/bpt6k55657299/f27.item), the Super-Lumichrome in 1934 (https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/bpt6k6579568f/f4.image.r=pellicule lumichrome?rk=128756;0). Contrary to later anglophone naming conventions, these were orthochromatic black-and-white films. Assuming that Super-Lumichrome superseded the older Lumichrome, the sign must have been about 50 years old when I took the photo 35 years ago.

Interesting album! How do you scan your negatives?

Thanks, I got a Pacific Image XAs recently. It's been fantastic, even better as I'm learning more about SilverFast.

Thanks for the information. Looks good, nicely defined grain and sharp edge to edge. Before switching to DSLR scanning I used a Nikon Super Coolscan LS-9000 (among others) but hardly ever could get everything in focus at the same time.

It is certainly a leap forwards for me... I've thought of offering a digitizing service to photographers who have negatives and no satisfactory way of scanning, for some inexpensive cost to cover a bit of my time sitting in front of the scanner. But I know many have qualms about sending valued negatives out in the mail. It sure seems like we should be able to create some kind of collective around one of these expensive scanners instead of each individually having to shell out upwards of $500 to each individually own one :/

Some of the local camera shops here offer(ed) hourly rental of their in house high-end scanners.

I shot this on a Wista 4x5, printed to some Foma 8x10 paper. The crop is mischievously off a little bit, which frustrates me but also I think adds something. Going to try to print this as a 16x20, have some large paper to use up.

That's quite nice - though in the current climate of film development shops and availability, how many of us have that luxury? The closest lab to me is Blue Moon Camera, four hours away in Portland.

Nice. What lens are you using?

I have the range finder version of the Wista 45. This version has support for 3 focal lengths you can select by a dial (135/150/180mm) for range finder focus. I've been working on getting those three in the small version of those focal lengths so they will fold with the camera.

Thanks! I forget what I took this with, it was either a fujinon SW 120mm f/8 lens, or newer model fujinon 160 (180mm?) f/5.6.

That's cool! Mine is the Wista VX (XV? I always get it backwards), great camera body. I remember this was a multi minute shot in shade, with I think 100 ISO film.
