Interestingly using this method with TriX resulted in finer grain and a slight increase in sharpness compared to my usual 70 and intermittent agitation method!
Was going to comment on the grain, but I see you have already. I think I like this constant agitation look more, as the intermittent one produces grainy results even for Tri-X.

I don't think grain is ever that big except 3200 film in small format. That might be grain clumping together which I've seen on 320TXP/Rodinal combo before.

I realised that I had a couple of rolls of Rollei Retro 400s in the fridge. I don't think I've used it before and I read that it wasn't really a 400 speed film so I put a roll in my Canon EOS 3 and shot it at ISO 250 on some winter scenes. I only used half the roll so I went into my shed and messed about with a dried hydrangea flower and some of my bodies using window light supplemented with an off camera flash unit. I still don't have a clue about shooting with flash but it was fun. Developed in Rodinal 1+25.

I picked up some last year and gave a roll a try. Your first roll turned out better than mine. I just shot it at box speed and found a development time. It was all off and the film needs the full treatment of speed test and nail down a better development time.

It looks like you did an excellent job

I have never used RR 400s, but it looks interesting.

As I said, I used Rodinal 1+25 and developed as per box speed figure which was 10.5 minutes. I tried to find out what developers other people recommended but in fact I've only got Rodinal, HC110 and ID11 at the moment (and the ID11 isn't mixed yet) so I went for the Rodinal. I did give it a pre-soak because there is a lot of purple dye produced.

Thanks. Confession time.... I cheated a bit with the last two indoor shots. I set them up with my EOS 6D DSLR and flash and checked that those images looked fine and then transferred the camera and flash settings to the EOS 3 for the film shots. Of course, if I learned a bit more about using flash, I could have avoided that but I rarely shoot indoors and when I do, I rely on high ISO.
