A very rare pentax???????

Until today, I did not know about the Pentax 12XP, and I guess the same goes for us all!
But here in UK Ebay I found this:
PENTAX 12XP CAMERA WITH LENS PENTACON 50mm 1:1.8 LENS | eBay

Ah the marvels of USSR technology (in forgery)

Not to mention that I've been unable to find any mention anywhere of a Pentax 50mm F/1.8 lens in either screwmount or K mount flavors.

edit: Maybe "Pentacon" has nothing to do with "Pentax"

Zenit manufactured a camera in a K-mount called the 12XP. I bet its a Russian camera with a homespun nameplate over the Zenit one.

EDIT: Beaten.

That's exactly what it looks like, stuck onto a Zenit 12XP body.

I wonder if Zenit bothered to get a license to use the K mount. The soviets often didn't worry about such capitalist notions.

I followed the Wikipedia link, and then on to the Praktica factory site, where I found this interesting factoid:
PRAKTICA History: Praktiflex/ PRAKTICA This is their history site, and it asserts that a Praktica was the first SLR with an instant return mirror! I had found elsewhere mention of a very limited instant mirror return SLR in the late 40's but not a Praktica. I would have remembered if it were a Praktica, as my first SLR was a Haminex Praktica LTL 3, which I still have. A rugged, capable if some what roughly finished shooter, with a good 50mm 1.8 focusing down to about 12 inches.
