K1000 on the way!

Today at work I was talking to a co worker about photography. I knew he had a K1000 and Nikon FE but never asked if he wanted to sell. I mentioned I would be looking for a Pentax body in the near future, maybe a ME Super. He asked if I wanted the K1000 for 20usd. I said "Bring it tomorrow, and don't forget." I told him if it is in good working condition he could get much more for it. He said it's in excellent condition and works and he just wants to pass it on to someone who will get some good use out of it and get a few bucks-he just shoots digital now. A few minutes later he mentioned it comes with a lens! I didn't ask which lens, just said "Don't forget to bring it tomorrow!!!" I WANT to go to work in the morning!

And tomorrow you'll tell us that the 'lens' is a K50/1.2 and that you've taken the rest of the day off from work. We eagerly await the news!

I wish.

Looking forward to seeing how the 30 something year old Pentax performs. Co worker said he bought it in the late '70s.

Maybe a K28/2.0!

Phil.

You might think about buying the Nikon FE from him as well, it's probably my favorite film camera that I own.

Congratulations. I love my digital Pentaxs, but there is nothing that comes close to the satisfaction of using a camera as simple as the K1000. The sound of the mechanical shutter going off is an acoustical dream, too! Have fun!

If it is in great condition with a good lens you're lucky. I picked mine up with the Pentax M 50mm f2, and an off-brand 28mm that wasn't too bad, for $4 at a Goodwill last year. Its in pretty darn good condition. Me and my girlfriend have both shot with it a good bit and it yields great images. I'm finding the need to sell it now though because of the price of film/developing. That and i need the money for some good DA* lenses

What did a poor innocent little K1000 ever do to you?

I was about to ask that. I was planning on selling mine but I cant bring myself to part with it. Sturdy build, reliable, all manual (which to me is one of the best features).

The lens is a 50 f/2. Shutter speeds seem to work and sync terminal and hot shoe fire flash. I need to get a battery and load up with film.

Beautiful combo, and it looks like it's in very tidy condition.
