Why isn't there a Pentax 50/55m f/2.0 "Budget" Lens Club? IMO these lenses are quite underrated.
At current prices they offer perhaps the most "bang for the buck" of any lens, in any mount.
The SuperTak 55/2 is definitely a steal-of-a-deal. My only M's in that neighborhood are the M50/1.7 and M50/2. While I really like some other f/2 Fifties -- Rikenon and Cosina 50/2, Helios 58/2 -- the M50/2 just doesn't give the same thrill, maybe because it's so out-shone by its 50/1.4 and 50/1.7 kin. Competent but not orgasmic, something like that.

I've always been a promoter of the 55 1.8, but truth be told one of my favourite Pentax lenses has to be the auto-takumar f2. Absolutely wonderful lens. Probably not in the same bargain/budget category as other f2's due to its rarely in comparison, but it's still one heck of a lens. Even the 2.2's are great.

The K55/2 also fits into that group. I had three at one time, some came with K1000 purchases. The K version did not last long, so they are harder to find than their faster brother the K55/1.8. Still not a bad kit lens. Phil

I do not like getting rid of my old cameras so I have seven pentax film cameras starting with the K1000 and finishing with *ist. I just seem to get too attached to them to part exchange or sell them.
Oh. and they all still work.

I used to be the same way. but the first time I forced myself to sell one, it became easier. on the other hand, last night I found myself just holding my original 'AP' and marveling at a camera Ive never even put a roll of film through. I mean, its immaculate, and for what purpose I have this camera still I cannot tell you. its just one fine piece of mechanical engineering and design. ill probably sell it one day.

my SV, will have to prod from my cold dead hands. I gave one away, and ill never let this one go. I let an in box asahiflex go without much remorse. but not my SV. :ugh:

I know why I keep my AP. It's in great cosmetic condition, was fully restored by Eric and we were born the same year . . .

Besides, the others won't allow me to get rid of it . . .

mine looks just like yours. late model with the standard 2.2 55mm. thats a great lens by the way, it renders beautifully on both film and digital. I use it on my SV quite often.

I agree the 55mm f2.2 is excellent and the 10 blades renders bokeh just fine . . .

But not putting a roll through the AP is like not allowing a stallion to run free! We will have to start a Set the AP Free movement . . .

Even the leather case was in great shape. Apparently it was owned by someone just like you who never used it either . . .

yea my leather case is also pretty much mint. which is pretty rare for these early brown hard cases. the reason I have never used it is because when I purchased it, the shutter was seized. it was fixed of course, but I actually never bought it to use. just simply to collect. its the last remaing piece of my collecting phase. I actually tried to sell it pretty cheap here on the forums back in late april or early may, but it had no takers. its a brilliant camera, but it isn't an SV.
