I would much, much prefer to support camera technicians by having them service my mechanical bodies, than to buy a bunch of redundant plastic bodies expecting them to fail.
I appreciate using a well honed mechanical marvel can be a joy to behold for many (myself included), however not all electronic bodies are plastic or flimsy. Here in the UK, it's hard to find good camera techs who can do the necessary specialist work - it may not be expensive but as the good ones retire one by one, it gets harder & harder. I had an LX repaired and a KX rebuilt by the last remaining Pentax specialist in the UK before he semi-retired, not cheap but worth it.
If there were more repair options available, I'd support them, but they're dwindling (I'd get my P6x7 & P67 CLA'd immediately). I bought my M4 knowing I'd likely be able to get it serviced in the UK/Europe longer than any other manufacturer. I have various bits of gear that need attention, but can't find anybody decent, who's prepared to take the work on.
