How does ZX7 and ZX10 compare?

Hi,

I just got 2 film bodies that look like new. A ZX-10 and a ZX-7. I was reading the reviews and I'm getting familiar with both, but how do they compare?
We have a phototrip tomorrow with our local club and I want to take one of them with my FA 28-80.
I know these were never intended to be the latest and greatest but I just want to have fun with it.

Thanks,

I think the primary differences are the ZX-7 has a metal lens mount and more scene modes.

It looks like the ZX-7 will give you a little bit more manual control:

A couple of advantages for the ZX-10:

1. it supports MTF data transfer (so with certain lenses, the body "knows" what apertures are supposed to be optimal and uses that information in the program modes).
2. according to specs it has the slightly bigger viewfinder, x0.77 vs. x0.70.

However, the ZX-7 has a diopter adjustment on the viewfinder, and being nearsighted, that's something I miss on the ZX-10.

Thanks all!
Adam, thanks for the chart link. That's a very useful chart!
It seems both bodies should perform fairly similar.
I used the precise scientific method of the coin toss and the ZX-10 will accompany us in today's phototrip, the ZX-7 in the next one.

Thanks!

To me the biggest drawback of the ZX-10 is no aperture priority. It's sad that only the ZX-6, 7 and L have body-control of the aperture.

I'm using the ZX-10 in Av mode. You set the aperture in the lens and the body selects the shutter speed.

Sorry, I should have been more descriptive. Aperture Priority isn't available when using lenses without an aperture ring. As a fan of the FAJ 18-35 and DA 35/2.4, that put me off.

So technically the issue is that those cameras don't have in-body manual aperture control.

Ahh, now I see what you mean. I didn't think of that.

Thanks,
