MZ-S Remote Plug Measurements

I was wondering if someone with an MZ-S can get the measurements for the little plug that goes in here

I bought an MZ-S and it has none of the plugs on the body, and I can't seem to find a replacement on-line anywhere.

If someone can take some measurements for me, I can go ahead and make a plug on my metal lathe.

I need the...

Diameter
Length
Depth

And if there are any kind of lip or holes for the contacts inside.

Thanks!

i've got the MZ-5n and there is 3 pin too but different.

One is like "ground".

if you make contact with "ground" and one pin it does AF.
"ground with the other and it does shutter.

You should try without any film loaded.

Thanks, but I'm not looking for the how the pins work, I am just looking to make a cover for the open socket. I'm looking for measurements of the rubber/plastic cover that comes with the MZ-S.

You could try putting a little light grease inside the opening and make sure all is coated including the pins. Then inject silicone sealant and let set then yank it out.

Sounds like the potential for a real mess!
Thanks for the suggestion.
I think the 645N uses the same plug.

True, a potential mess... ... if tried with a huge calking gun, I should mention that it was a small toothpaste size version and it worked well in making dirt caps for my quad cored computer that is toted to work.
If the 645N cap is the same then I'm glad to hear you have an easy alternative.

I still don't have access to a 645N.

I suppose I can try getting an inside micrometer in there somehow.

Hmm... I just looked at some pictures of a 645N, and it doesn't take an electrical remote, so it doesn't have those connectors on the body. Maybe a 645NII? Be right back....

Yep, the 645NII has what appears to be the connector on the backside, on the bottom near the grip area.

I got an "Official" response from Pentax.

"Thank you for contacting PENTAX.

The release socket cap FL (product number 31039) was considered an accessory part for the MZ-S and we no longer have any of these in our stock. The 645nll used a different size cap, release socket cap F, which will not fit on the MZ-S. We don't have any specifications on the cap or one to measure but you may be able to find one if you try websearching."

Ok, so after some searching, I am out of luck.

Can someone *rent* a cap to me?

Basically, send me the cap, so I can take measurements, and I will send it back to you?

Since I will be making a 6061 custom cap for myself, whoever sends me a cap to measure, I will make one for you!

I think I might have found one....but the person is not sure if it will fit.
If you can take a picture of the plug, that would be great!
I am going to pm you anyway, so I can get the 100% sure one, and make the replacement.

Awesome!
Wow, that's thin!!!!
I read 3mm thick, and 10mm in diameter.
It's got a recessed lip - probably 9mm or so.
That's going to be tough to make, but I'm going to give it a try!
I think instead of 6061, I will make it out of black Delrin.
Thanks!
