I have done in the past, as many as 16 overplayed exposures, each at 1/16 the exposure value, to show motion. Pick a landscape for example, and the grain blowing in the wind, but the trees steady. You can do a blurred shot with a long shutter speed, or overlay multiple exposures to show the motion differently, with sharp but somewhat dim outlines and the central portion that only moves slightly bright. It is an interesting effect.
