Man, anyone ever seen on of these before?

RARE Pentax LX w 50mm F 1 2 Special Gold Edition Limited to 300 Sets HK3823 | eBay

Sorry if this is redundant non-information but I've never seen one of these freaky things before. Looks pretty rare

lol yep, these exist. They are rare and expensive, look kind of freaky, but there is something about them that just draws people.

Yeah I see what you mean. At first glance I just thought that some jackass had painted a poor LX. But under closer examination its a pretty interesting piece of Pentax history and kind of cool looking too! (while still being entirely too expensive for any kind of sane person lol)

I vaguely remember seeing an advertisement for these in a Minneapolis camera store in the early 80's (Pentax was perhaps their best supported brand - certainly it wasn't in the back seat compared to other brands). I had a Super Program - an excellent camera - but I still drooled over the LX that was outside my budget. At the same time, I wondered who would be stupid enough to even want one of these gold LX cameras?

Raises hand . . .

To be sure, there appears to be other brands offered like this but the LX is probably the only camera I would want made this way because it really is the gold standard.

BTW, there were others - Limited, Titan, LX 2000, Titanium -> http://www3.xitek.com/xitek-lab/135f2dc-lx.htm

I much preferred the look of the LX 2000 with the silver 50mm f/1.2 lens.... now where is the drooling smiley?

I don't know but one is definitely required when looking at this group of cameras

I would take any of them, even though I can't afford them without blowing up my line of credit lol

I'm just glad there wasn't an internet back then, because it would have the same reaction to some of these as it did to the K-01
I really hope Pentax does some more wild things like this. Sure, the silver K-5's are sweet, but they aren't nearly as wild as this golden LX.

These Gold LX cameras were made back in 1981, so they are early production. In later production there were two titanium LX models and one, LX2000 made of some metal also similar to titanium. On gold one is real 24K gold.
