Two recent thrift store scores ... (x-post)

- a Voigtlander Phokina III with Color-Novicar 2.8/50 plus case ... everything works and price is on the filter below (7€!) ... photo before cleaning
- a Minolta SR T 101 with a MC W.Rokkor-HG 2.8/35 plus case ... the body is locked up, missing the rewind crank and has a lot of mildew, but the lens is very nice ... price on lens (5€!) ... photo before cleaning and always wanted a black version, but this one may be too hard for me to restore ... Can anyone recommend a good Minolta person? Merci, J

Whoever wrote the prices on the lenses should be shot. But otherwise, superb finds

I haven't had any Minoltas done myself, but I hear this guy is pretty good:

A quick picture of my new aquisition, a very pretty and fully working black SV. I've been searching for this one for quite a while
and the wait was worth it.

Merci unix for the repair info ... and yes, two very nice finds after a bit of a drought winter season. Maybe some "Spring cleanings" are coming soon ... Salut, J

I certainly hope so!

I got luckyish at my local Goodwill, they had a bulk film loader with at least half a 100' roll of film still in it for $3. The data plate says the film was loaded on 3/1/78, so we will see if it's any good! It looks like it is...or at least was...Tri-X.

DA35/2.4 arrived, so dug out the old Z-1P, bought a roll of Ektar and we'll see how it fares...

Ouch, that's tragic, especially so given the lens it is on. Might be cleanable, though. The rokkor coatings tend to be pretty etch resistant.

I'm afraid the fungus was well through the coating when I got it, all my cleaning attempts have had no effect. The lens still works but contrast is very low (stopping down makes it worse).
I would need a new front element but finding a damaged lens with a (more or less) intact front element will take a while...

I could send it back but I bought it as part of a kit and once I've sold the other parts (I only wanted the 85), the 85 will have cost me next to nothing.

A pox on you Jean!!! I own the MC W.Rokkor HG 35/2.8 and it is indeed a nice lens. I paid $83 USD in ex condition.

This thread is primarily about gear porn (photos). The Spotmatic D is pure fantasy

OK

The 85/1.7, shot with my 58/1.2 @ f/1.2

My 58/1.2 shot with the 85/1.7 @ f/1.7

See the difference?

With the fungus stain in the center, contrast actually gets lower when the 85 is stopped down.
