Christmas in February

Today I received the object of a long harboured dream, in as near mint condition as it gets. body nr. starts with 0901.
The price was a total no-brainer for this set.
A few new batteries and I am good to go.

I am open to suggestions as to the most sexy manual lens for this set.

apologies in advance for posting a pic from my phone.

Note to self : perhaps change my nickname

That's a beauty!

Of course the 50mm f1.2 makes it a sexy beast but I feel that the uncluttered FA-2 viewfinder maximizes the LX's elegance.

Congratulations! Mine, which has been giving me good service since the late 1980s, just died a few weeks ago...

Unfortunately we have no Eric hereabouts (Vienna)... I had it parked for about one year with a local repairs man, reputed to be a Pentax specialist. When I finally managed to get it back from him, he did not want to get paid from me after having me wait for so long. The LX came with new shutter curtains but worked worse than before. I might send it to Hamburg but I'm really jealous for your Eric!

I send my stuff from the UK to Eric and the postage isn't too bad. If you put 'broken camera for repair' on the customs form they don't charge. K.

I sent a MX and a SP F to Eric from France. No problems and it was cheaper for him to do the work (including postage) as compared to anything reliable that I found in France at the time. I do not think that anything special was on the customs form. J

Thank you womble and Jean Poitiers for the advice--I'll give this option serious consideration!

Afterall, the Pentax LX is the most elegant interchangeable viewfinder camera . . .

I see a Minolta there that I am not familiar with. Do you have any information on it?

That would be the Minolta X-1, XM & XK
It's my next most comprehensive viewfinder system after the LX.

Like the Pentax LX, Minolta also made one interchangeable viewfinder 35mm SLR and released in 1972.

I have four versions of the SRT cameras, and this looks to be an expensive version of these. Is it fully manual?

It is Minolta's first aperture priority capable camera but with full manual controls. It is the first aperture priority capable interchangeable viewfinder SLR preceeding Nikon's F3, Canon's New F-1 and Pentax LX.
