I love this time of year ... neighborhood yard sales/festivals. Today's haul: 30 for the working Yashica with battery (I have 2 now)... and 25 for the mint, working X-500 with MD 50/1.7 and a cased mint MD 50-135/3.5, plus a flash which I cannot get to work (yet). Check out the plastic film on the bottom ... new.

I just gave away a X-500 via French fleabay and had seller's remorse ... and then karma smiled upon me. I will sell the 50-135 since I already have another one and that sale will more than pay for all ... happy camper.

The eye cup for the dslrs fits the MX. I think it looks neat, and helps, also makes it easier to see the f/ window.
Happy photos with your new MX

I would like to know if there is some scientific explanation behind this. I seem to be suffering from a severe case of MCES (Multplying Camera Equipment Syndrome)

Only a few weeks ago, I was happily unboxing my first Pentax DSLR. All seemed fine with the world.

Now, less than 3 weeks later, I seem to be getting overrun, and I don't know how they are multiplying so fast!

I fear that soon I may be overrun. Sanity is slowly slipping. Money is disappearing from my wallet. Yet somehow it all feels so right.

Tell me, Doctor, am I beyond saving? Should I fight it? or just let MCES take over my life?

Hahaha the grip is getting stronger ....... soon you will be buying a desk purposely designed for processing and storing the gear ..... then a display cabinet ........ oh and all the pelican cases too ......

I would share my symptoms in a pic but the wide angle I have cannot go beyond 180 degrees

Maybe I need a theta? theres an idea ......

HeavyCorPhotography, your MCES sounds very much like my CBA (that spread from what I initially thought was a harmless case of minor LBA). I've shot SLRs and digital bridge cameras for years and never had any problems. Then in 2012, I bought my first Pentax - the K5. Things were calm for the first six months, then an unfortunate accident with my kit lens prompted me to get my first walkabout DA 18-135. Things went downhill very quickly after that!

From posts similar to yours, I can only conclude that Pentax gear is like narcotics - once you've got your first hit, you need to keep coming back for more . My latest hit came last weekend - a Spotmatic SP500, SuperTakumar 55mm F/2, Soligor 80-200mm F/3.5, Ilfolux PF1 Flash Gun and a bunch of other knick-knacks, all in Mint-condition, with original cases and manuals, for $50.

I think I may have to turn off my Wi-Fi router soon before the urge to look for my next hit surfaces...

I recommend preparing for such a withdrawal ...... make sure you remove all pentax guides, books, pamphlets, etc promoting gear you don't have before taking the plunge. Otherwise, the printed media will draw your attention and then you will be in your car looking for the nearest thrift shop ......

Yeah.. that's why I know cold turkey won't work. I'll have to be put into a forced coma since everything I look at these days sets off a thought process in my mind : what lens would work best in that scenario, what angle should I use, what's the proper aperture setting, etc.

Best thing to do would be just enjoy the highs. Fortunately, I still prefer having money in my pockets versus having that next lens or camera that pops up!

I thought I was cured the other day after looking at my gear in quietly satisfied stance. Then, I had a look at ebay and scanned. Ooooh that looks nice - next minute I reminded myself of the contentment and moved on.

Later that day, I had another look. Ooooh I said, I know, I'll put in a stupidly low 'best offer' knowing I won't succeed (completely out of character for me) .........

Oh oh - best offer got accepted. Hmmmmmmmm caught again in the grip of LBA.

I hear ya. Well, the "looking over the gear and being happy with what you've got" works. For me personally, part of the initial impetus to get additional gear is to have more coverage in the focal lengths I was missing. When the FF Pentax was announced, I suspect more people will go after the older lenses as well, so I decided to focus more on the best-bang-for-the-buck ones.

Being in Canada, something else that has worked beautifully these past few months has been the tanking of our dollar. With a 20% hit for every dollar, I'm blissfully ignoring all online sales from the USA!

And the last thing I've done is to limit my browsing to anything under $50. But dangit, I still managed to pick up three Pentax SLRs and four lenses for under $120 all in, so I must be doing right.

Not only are they multiplying, but they are BIG, VERY BIG...
