Heh, a Zenit strap on a Minolta SRT!

The one weird thing about the SRT series is that the metering needle goes down for over-exposure, and up for under-exposure.

Ahh.
That does sound like a Frankenlens.
The I-61 that came with the FED 2, and the I-61 L/D that came with my FED 3 both seem to be good lenses. Nothing loose or wobbly, and very good optically.
I have a Zorki 6 coming... with a zebra Industar-61. Hopefully both are good. I know the I-61 isn't what came originally with the Zorki 6, but I would rather have a zebra I-61 than the Industar-50.
Agreed!

Yes, buy it for the lens, if nothing else! The aperture may need cleaning, but the trouble will be worth it.

As for the metering on the Minolta, it is not difficult. Just remember that the CLC metering is biased to center and the lower half of the frame. Edit: This was the conventional wisdom back in the day, but to be honest, I have not found it to be so. I just meter the frame and forget about it.

Edit: I am not sure, but I think that hood might be intended for one of the available Rokkor wide-angles.

Yes, the round needle moves down for lower shutter speeds, but that is the rule for match-needle systems with the other needle moving up for larger apertures. My Pentax KX and Ricoh XR-2s are the same. The SRT 201 has the shutter speed across the bottom of the viewfinder so it should not be too hard to keep track of how to meter.

OK, I remember now. According to sovietcams, mine (ser #3546375) would have come with a late I-26, but the lens it was sold with (ser # 6685044) has I-61 on the beauty ring and appearance/characteristics unlike anything I could find online (black focus ring, silver body, silver aperture ring, and no click stops). It performs poorly and I figure it is some sort of Frankenlens.

The I-61 I have now (ser #7110812) is more typical of the breed but is quite wobbly. I keep thinking I should have sent it back to Fedka rather than keeping it.

Steve
Mine have all been wobbly strip file reassemble, but not made any difference to photos, they need hoods!

Right Steve. MC 35mm F2.8 on the other side of the lens hood.

That strap's from a Soviet/Russian Zenit camera, probably a late model ET.

Ha, looks like you beat me to the ID.
Thanks Brian. I thought I might have to send the 105 Kiron to you but what appeared to be internal goop came right off on the front and rear elements.

Asharpe, I use the same a-hrm "Moony" f/11 method for my moonshots also. At ISO 100 and 1/125, it works great.

Lukulele, the Minolta CLC metering system found in the old SRTs is actually pretty sophisticated. Read more about it here:

The Rokkor Files - The Minolta SR Series

So, did this $5 find of yours come with the Kino macro too? If so, that was an unbelievable steal of a deal.

Strip, file, reassemble? I have heard that repacking the helicoids helps, but what do you mean by "file"?

More Kiron bargain bin for the Nikon kit and the viewfinder from Nuovo Colore, Treviso, Italy. Nice selection of used film equipment in a beautiful city.

Mine (three off) have moved just forward of the mounting ring I’ll need to take photos at week end for you if that is not clear!
They are reasonable performers with a generic hood.
