And I appear to be stuck with "taco method" film processing for now, as all I have is a Paterson-like developing tank.
I have done the "taco" method and it works pretty well. The HP tanks are expensive and are prone to leakage by all reputation. Jobo 4x5 reels and compatible tanks are available again as well $$$. I am currently using a Unicolor drum originally intended for color paper processing to do 4 sheets at at time.

many labs do 4x5 development, so don't worry. There are also other older scanners that do good work with 4x5 and 8x10, like my Epson Perfection 4990. I am seriously wanting a v700 though.
Curious why you would consider the V700 when you have the 4990?

Better optics, though for 4x5, it is not as big an issue.

There's also the small issue of years of dust and scratches on the glass...though I think that's easily solved with replacement glass (I've had it apart three times to clean it and nearly killed it the last time). In using both my 4990 and the V700 I found the V700's film holders to be easier to use, specifically the ones for Medium Format.

You took the lid apart?!!? I've needed to do that a while, is there a link for instructions? (I know, too lazy to google it myself)...

I took the flatbed apart. It's easy once you know how but the instructions are not widely publicised and finding them in a straightforward manner is difficult.

I will try to remember how to do so and post it somewhere.

My Pentax family

This is my Pentax family so far. I'm really no Pentax collector, but this is what I found at various flea markets the last 2 years. I like Pentax more and more.

I visit MANY flea markets every week. As a percentage, it is a very poor return with Pentax camera finds
