A thrift store Honeywell Pentax 3/21 Exposure Meter from the 1960's
It was not working and needs 2 obsolete batteries so I designed and built a small circuit board to allow it to run with one smoke alarm battery.

Calibrated against the Pentax K-01 and the Pentax MX
It is very nice to use. I am trying Ektar for first time tomorrow at outdoor birthday so it will get some use.

Much like I said about your 6x7 lens to Speed Graphic adaptation and your DIY box camera, this is another one of those things where, to those of us less skilled, you might as well have written "I built a Saturn V. And the launch pad." Anyway, nice machine! I had never seen a spot meter with chimney finder before. That would be kind of fun, and nice parallelism, to go out and use with an unmetered 6x6 SLR (e.g. Bronica S2) sporting chimney finder as well.

Wow Les ... that's some really nice gear that I lusted for many a year ago ... maybe I should break a piggy bank and diversify away from so much Pentax gear ...

Agreed. I have been slowly putting a roll through my Minolta SRT 101 and so many features are so smooth and precise. Still though, the Spotmatic feels better in the hand.

I love the SRTs (Have four of them with lenses) and also have some Yashicas. My Lynx 5000, I bought new in 1969. Since then I acquired a Lynx E14 (1.4 lens), a Lynx 1000, and just got this one for $2.25 plus $15 post on the way. Supposed to be working fine. It's a Yashica Minister 11, down market from the Lynx' models, but still the 5 element lens is a good one. (The Lynx 14 has 7 elements, and like all Lynx, has 1/1000 shutter speeds) (Edit, the Lynx 14 top speed is 1/500)

Doesn't that just burn you up, when the post costs as much as or more than the camera?! I just had that happen to me with an SRT. It's especially galling when someone charges an arbitrary amount (say, $15), and then the box arrives and has a printed sticker right there on it saying much less -- $9.85 or whatever. Anyway, I've been considering a Minister or similar non-electronic-shuttered Yashica. Yashica's glass is great, but having been inside my Electro GSN twice, to replace and re-replace the damn pad of death, I find it quite the Rube Goldberg machine. Maybe mine is out of spec or something, but it feels cheap and plasticky in its wind-on and most other actions. Let us know how you get on with the Minister.

I have looked often at the Electros, but the death-pad and battery hassles keep me staying with the tried and true manual cameras. Fortunately my Yashica light meters still work, but the camera doesn't depend on them. As I mentioned, the Minister is not in the same league as the Lynx, but for the price, and something different, it looks to be worth having. The lens is smaller, and has less elements than the Lynx, but in real world use not significant, I have posted examples from only three element lenses one would not pick from more sophisticated lenses in everyday shooting.

My first real camera was a Lynx 1000. It was stolen

Still though, I like the camera so much that I went through a Lynx obsession a few years back and now own both the Lynx 1000 and several Lynx 5000 in various degrees of working order. The optics are great, though the build quality is somewhat below SLR quality of the same era. My Lynx 1000 has the dreaded bent aperture rod issue and needs to go in for service while Mark Hama (N. America Yashica guru) is still plying his trade.
