Oh no! I followed the links that Jan posted and got this:

Bad, bad panda!

Me, too. It seems to be all of flickr... Only the direct links to the files still work.

Ah, oui ... This one is going into the personal collection (like there's another collection in the house). Going to break big time my rule that if one can "double their money, sell it and bank roll" again ... but, I break this rule a lot for the stuff in my "keepers" category, especially the better thrift store snags ... I have been hunting for one like this for some time. Happy camper, me ... Salut, J

PS - There is (was) a 70-210 at Tours, France, but without the box, etc. ... in Minolta. I was tempted, but the guy was a real a-hole over the telephone about answering questions, etc. I still have his contact info. And now there's new post - an Olympus with box ... must resist, must resist ... Zoom Ang

It was about "half" average market value that I have been tracking and estimating here and there ... but, I think that the 70-210 had some issues, because he was quite "squirrelly" over the phone when I started to ask a few pointed questions ... maybe he didn't like my accent, etc., or the fact that I'm American, who knows.

The talks never got anywhere near to being a "done deal" ... also, I was PayPal "broke" at that moment, too ... which didn't help with the situation. Besides, as I told myself in "auto-conciliation", the 70-210 could not be Leitax converted to PK fit (like an Olympus 70-210) ... I emailed Leitax and they indicated that it would be like any other OM to PK kit modification ... later they posted this, see: Angenieux 70-210/3.5 ...

I almost had an Olympus OM mount 35-70 (without box, etc.) to possibly be converted, but sold it as is ... glad that I found a good PK one. J

Angenieux is one of the old and reputable manufacturers of high-grade cinema lenses (along with Zeiss, Cooke and Fuji), this lens has a reputation for sharpness and especially for it's color rendering.
See for yourself:

Thanks for the links, Jan ... I just hope that my "skill set" is up to the level of this lens ... on verra, J

PS - Not really, 70-210 is "too long" on APS-C for me, and I really doubt that its that much better (for my needs, skills & style) than my AD-2 19AH (Tamron Adaptall-2 SP 70-210mm f/3.5 (19AH) Lens Reviews - Tamron Adaptall Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database) ... would love to have a shoot off between the two ...

OK, that sounds like too much effort/risk for the potential gain... My MD 70-210/4 is a fine lens anyway*, I don't exactly need a better one...

The Angenieuxs are on my instant-resale list (along with the Minolta MC16/2.8, MD RF Rokkor 250/5.6, Tomioka 55/1.2, etc.)

*There are bunch of well-done comparisons of Minolta lenses over at Artaphot.ch (all credit goes to Stephan & Tobias):
(These are all shot on a Sony NEX-5n, their newer ones use a Sony A7(r))

100mm:

135mm:

200mm:

BTW: Some of those early Minolta MD primes (50/1.2, 85/2, 100/2.5 (the "plain MD" version), 135/2.8 (the 4/4 version). 200/4 (the 520g version)) are really impressive!

regards
Jan

If you can't handle the Angenieux, I'll happily trade you my Pentax-F 35-70/3.5-4.5 or Minolta MD 35-70/3.5...

They can keep those, along with the "Freedom Atherosclerosis"...

Thanks a lot, Jan for your input ... there's a MD 70-210/4 (with hood) in the used case at my B&M store for 45€ ... but, like I wrote, already have the 19AH and a Minolta adapter ... one's gotta stop somewhere, right?! J

I couldn't tell you, which of those 2 is better but you could easily find the MD70-210 on ebay at that price or below it if you want to try it.
I think, the Minolta primes are more interesting.

This list is quite helpful to identify the gems.

You actually knew the artist? I had that printed up on my bedroom wall for the longest time, since in 2001 i was newly in college, with no real concept of copyrights.
