Something like this? Here is just a little encouragement for you...
This M40/2.8 had problems that I was able to fix (separation of the lens cement between two elements). This makes a nice little combo, and is fun to use. I think the M40/2.8 is a better lens than some credit it.
This combo is convenient -- here is an example photo taken at our local summer fair (my son-in-law getting dunked at a fund-raiser booth).
