Picked up a very nice CZJ 28/2.8 with an unfortunately jammed BMS cheap off French evilBay ... another in the CZJ stable ... and maybe I can heal the BMS; the meter works ... oh well, we'll see. J (x-post)

Man, every time I see one of those 40/2.8 pancakes I want to get one and stick it on an M_ camera for a pocketable shooter. (I have only the ME Super SE so far.) I should just go buy-it-now one of them since they're pretty affordable lenses; scouring auctions carefully and waiting patiently for months will probably save me $8 or something like that, which I could more quickly save by foregoing a few coffees.

Dave,

Something like this? Here is just a little encouragement for you...

This M40/2.8 had problems that I was able to fix (separation of the lens cement between two elements). This makes a nice little combo, and is fun to use. I think the M40/2.8 is a better lens than some credit it.

This combo is convenient -- here is an example photo taken at our local summer fair (my son-in-law getting dunked at a fund-raiser booth).

MX:M40/2.8:Tri-X in Rodinal scanned with Epson V500.

ARGGHHH, yes like that. Stop that!
Yes sometime I'll get one. But it won't happen soon since I'm off on a Minolta bender at the moment.

Did you remove the black finish and anodize some parts different colors?

Yes, among other modifications. For example, the Canon was converted to K mount, and the Sears was converted to standard m42 from SX.
I like the Super Tak on the Spotmatic a lot.

Pawnshop find Zanza Bronica s2a. It didn't have a darkslide so I wasn't able to test the shutter. I really rolled the dice and made out pretty well, my first roll came back looking good.

Yeah, those Zenzas are a pain with the darkslide. If I recall, you can't unmount the film cartridge without a slide, either.
No you cant, i don't think it's going to be easy to find one without buying the whole back either. Your lens mods look beautiful by the way.

Sweet find. I have an S2 and it's one of my favorite cameras ever. The Nikkor-P 75/2.8 is superb.
