When I was in Japan in April, I went to a tiny camera shop - and when I say tiny, I mean the size of the average kitchen but containing about a thousand cameras - in the basement of a karaoke club in Shinjuku. At the time I was experimenting with half frame and got myself an Olympus Pen D3 but now I really regret not buying one of the ten or so new old stock black Spotmatics still in their original packaging on the shelf. I'm concerned that when I return next summer I may just buy the whole shop.
Sounds like heaven.

Well, that's the most interesting presentation that I can remember ... and that's a very nice lens, too.

Here's two future Contraflex mount paperweights for my office ... 5€ for both at the Nantes swap ...

The 85/4 has bad lens separartion issues and the 35/3.2 has fungus ... future "Freanken-lens" possibilities here! J

That is a good price if lenses and shutters are in working order. It's only money, right? Enjoy! Large format puts everything else photographic in perspective.

Steve
I have never shot LF before, so this will be a new experience for me. I will just have to wait with impatient expectations until it arrives to find out about the lens and shutters. I have a Kodak lens and shutter from a 616 folder that I have tested. If the Graphex shutter is bad, I may be able to fix it myself, as I have fixed several shutters on MF units already.
The curtain shutter is not a big deal, I would like it to work, but if it does not, I will look at fixing that myself, maybe.

I bought film holders, and a 25 pack of B/W 100, but I really want to shoot paper negs in this.
I may have to sell my K-x digital and a couple 35mm film bodies and lenses to afford this newest foray into new territory.

I may have to buy a new scanner, my Epson v500 won't scan a 4x5 negative. sigh.

Is this the M42 version? I heard good things about the Mir-1, if I remember correctly it won a prize at the Bruxelles expo in 1958, along with the Leningrad rangefinder and the Tair-11.

Yes, it is the M42 version. One variant of the Mir-1 indeed won the "Grand Prix" award, but as far as I know, it was one of the earlier models (Mir-1), the V-model is newer. I bought it because I wanted a manual prime under 50mm to use with my extension tubes, so I could get larger than 1:1 magnification. However, the M42 adapter I bought tends to shave off metal particles, so I try to use it as little as possible, and I almost never mount it directly on the camera, to avoid the shavings making into the body.

I started to buy some "toys" for pimping my LX, now it has morphed from a tiny and humble camera to a sort of evil Decepticon of the 80s:

I'm glad someone got it. Indeed, the nearing of 5th season of Walking Dead was my inspiration in this case. I wanted to give the photo WD intro/credits look.

Look at those speeds. Yet people managed to get their pictures anyway. Gee, no auto focus, how is that possible?
