If you are looking for a ME F body to go with your lens, check out Rocky Cameras (gasp). He has one that looks decent. J

Jean's lens was the cheaper option to the Takumar 55/1.8 for the S and are rather hard to find.
Glenn
Thanks for the info Glenn. I had not researched it yet. Salut, J

Hey Glenn.

I disagree somewhat. Yes, the 55/2.2 was produced in 1957. The Asahi Pentax S was in production from spring of 1958 until fall of 1958. The camera was sold with the common Takumar 55mm f2.2 that was still around that spring. The first production run had a single scale, while the later one found on the S had a dual scale, meters and feet.

The S was also seen with the 55mm f1.8, that lens was developed during the fall of 1957, and in production only in 1958.

The original Asahi Pentax came with the 58mm f2.4, a direct inheritance from the Asahiflex, the only difference is the mount, Asahiflex had the m37. There were some 19000 AP's produced that first year. About 1/3 were branded Tower in the US. Very impressive numbers IMHO. The S had a much lower production numbers Somewhere between 3 and 4 thousand.

I have both the m37 version and the m42 version of the 58mm f2.4. The m42 version was on a Tower 26 with the feet scale.

Then you have the Takumar 58mm f2.0. Don't know if this is more rare than the 55 f1.8, but in my opinion the 55/1.8 is a harder find. A funfact about the 58/2.0 is that this must be the first Pentax lens with a R-mark for infrared.

My copy of the Takumar 55mm f2.2 was on my Asahi Pentax S, chrome body. Is has a dual scale, meters and feet.

The standard lens for the S1 was Auto-Takumar 55mm f2.2.

I just checked the exchange rate and can't believe what you paid for both. What a score!

What they said....! You'll love the 50mm. I've never tried the 35mm, it is one of the K primes on my wish list (along with the 200/2.5).

Thanks everyone for the congrats ... all my over-zealous searching paid off here !!!

I had not visited this site in quite a while, but now going to watch them more closely. Last time I bought there was over two years ago when they were selling a Tamron AD-2 PK and PKA for 20€ and 25€ respectively. I snapped up the PKA, of course.

I wanted the 35/2 straight off when I saw it. And when I read the "50/1.2" page, I thought that it was a typo, but I called to be sure.

They said it was definitely a f1.2, and I said that I take it plus the 35.

They had (still have) two K50/1.4's listed for 75€ (four stars) and for 100€ (three stars) ... I passed. Go figure. Salut, J
