Hi.
It took some time to gather the family for this shoot. This is, I thing, every member of the 50’s gang that I own.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to trying it out this morning if this bleeding RAIN would ever stop. Three straight days is enough!

I just wanted to add that in the museum's main photo gallery, there was a very sad and haunting show of photographs of empty/abandoned/demolished film and analog photography manufacturing facilities and offices, and the devastation to the communities left behind as the industry dried up.
It not only included photos of Kodak facilities in Rochester, but also AGFA facilities in Germany, Canadian facilities, etc.
Thanks for this very interesting post.

I was tempted by getting an A lens especially to change the the look of the camera (ok I'm boring) and I like the pentaprism without hot shoe, but it appears it's hard to procure.
Congratulations on your find. The LX is a beauty. I have the later version, which I bought used a few years ago.

Personally I prefer the M lenses just for the looks. The chrome ring just makes them so much prettyer than the later A lenses. Just for that, I stocked up on M lenses instead of A lenses, although I knew they would be more or less useless when I eventually went digital. On my newly bought K20D I can only use them in manual mode. (I hope some day Pentax will release a body with uncrippled mount, but I'm afraid they never will)

So, IMHO you should get M lenses for you LX. It looks much nicer with them. :-)

This is the list of M lenses I have:

28 mm f2.8
35 mm f2.8
50 mm f1.7
50 mm f1.4
85mm f2.0
100 mm f2.8
200 mm f4.0

Plus a 35-70 mm zoom. I think I'm plenty of M lenses.

Bonne année, bonne santé !!!

I ended 2014 with this 10€ thrift store hard case camera bag ... and this leads me to a question for you guys.

I have a like-new Minolta X-700, but the Judas window is blocked/very dim. Getting this well brassed, but working, X-700 below reminded me of this problem because its window is so clear and bright.

Any ideas why a Judas window would be bad ... ?

Happy New Year, good health and good light too!

I don't have the light path reference for the X700's judas window but looking at a couple of others - Pentax LX - Full Info on Its Interchangeable Viewfinders, Interchangeable Viewfinders for Nikon F3 cameras - Part III, it doesn't look like it is so simple. My guess would be a broken/missing mirror, dirt or possibly mold is blocking the view.

BTW, another great haul!

If the Minolta is anything like a K Series Pentax then it’s just a small piece of glass/plastic that gets jarred out of position.

I have had a few KX & K2DMD bodies where Eric has had to reset the Judas window back in place. Most common is that the window is blank/dim or I even had one that was reversed and the aperture reading was far way and you could see most of the ring.

Great find...My father in law shot that same set up for years. When he passed away it went to my brother in law where it now sits on his shelf unused.

Sorry. Didn't realise you were that much into old gear. A few lenses there that I'd love to have myself.
