Go for it Jean! It'll probably double in value in ten years. Maybe.

It aint a good deal to me.

If you take the Summarit 50/1.5 which can be consider as the most interesting lens, you can have it for around 500-800€, the body for 600€, the Ektor surface from less than 200€ quite often this days, the two Elmar can surface quite often for less than 300€.

Also take in consideration that many of those lenses can be found in soviet version for half the price, without much headache.

If you are serious about Leica, check out second hand items alone, they can be found from time to time for not much.

The III Gustav fetches good money, plus you have all the hoods etc...they are pricey today.

However since we are talking about Leica systems, this is my humble M3 system.

This 1954-1958 Retinette was the first model to come after the folders. Although it may seem less desirable than the later models with brightline viewfinders, this is very solid, with a better quality shutter and metal components rather than plastic. This example with it's case is near mint and fully serviceable with clean glass all round. In it's class, this has to be one of the best viewfinder cameras produced.

Hi.
It took some time to gather the family for this shoot. This is, I thing, every member of the 50’s gang that I own.
Thank you for giving me something to show to my fiancee, to prove that my own gear addiction could be a lot worse.

Like cold showers!

Those cases look like they were never opened . . . probably for the same reason . . .

Hey, they'll make an excellent pair of bookends once I load them up with lead shot ...

Also, there's a camera shop in Germany that want 69€ (OBO) for one ... so maybe I can pawn one (or both) off at the next swaps. Yeah, right.

The next swap for me is on Sunday, Feb. 1st. Salut, J

Once again, the charity shop comes good. £30, Miranda Sensorex with 50mm and 28mm lenses, waist and eye level viewfinders, teleconverter, extension tubes, filters, flash, tripod, I could go on...

Remarkably, the meter works and after some working back and forth the apertures have freed themselves up. So delighted, it's beautiful.

And Jean, those Gevaert things are cute. Useless perhaps, but cute.

I'm not sure if this qualifies as 'gear p0rn' . . . . but it was a thoughtful Chirstmas Gift from my eldest daughter.

It's a lot of plastic bits to cut out - reminds me of assembling airfix model aricraft kits when I was younger - but without all the glue

And 'konstruction' is not without its hazards

If they made one off them with a K-Mount I'd buy it. Or even M42 would do.

From this week ... a working, but cosmetically challenged MX with a nice 50/1.7 ... for a fiver at the thrift store.

The oldest yet from the thrift store ... a Voigtlander Jubilar (1931-1934) with a case and most of an instruction manual in French.
