Congratulations. Will you reveal what the price was new? I am not familiar with the model.

I wound up finding specs on the scanner, where else, Google search. Everything says this was about the best of its type. About 10 years ago it sold for about $499 and a Pro model was $599. Found a review too and Ken Rockwell loved it-take that for what its worth. Looks like Epson`s next model was the V700.
The invoice shows $374 with a 5/29/2007 date.

I had a V700 and that's what I was looking for but found this instead. Since the price was right (much better then the going rate on the great auction site!) and it can do 8X10 film, I am certain it will do the job I need it for. I will also see how it compares to the V700 while I am at it.

I think I may have a problem. I love these things.
Well then, just don't get started on the Retinas because they are so addictive.

Hahahaha - I've looked at those a number of times and thus far have held off. I do imagine it's a once-you-start-good-luck-stopping sort of thing!

Wonderful! For me these end up being a bit big, but the MD 35-70 3.5 is an awesome lens, Leica sold it as well.

Here our cat checks the 7 and 5 out; he seems to like the Panda 5

for size, here's the 5 and an OM2n in a spy vs spy pose

That said, looking at photos, there's a big proportion of what I think are really good ones made with the Minoltas, these, and the TLR...

Congrats on getting the XE-7 working!
Nice cat photo. Could be a Minolta advertisement.

Praktica day also for me, I got the last of the breed:

Sold as non working, with a battery it proved otherwise, I already shot a test roll and everything is fine.

That look a very tidy example. I am partial to the early IV series (of which I have four). They could be used to stun an ox, they are so solid.

Here are my Maxxums. The B&W shots were taken with the Spotmatic II.

Excellent! The Russians came for me this week as well!

A new-to-me Fed 2E with Industar61 and a Kiev 4M with Helios103.

Bah, you're missing half the "fun" of the Kiev with that model: turning the tiny rewind knob* found on some of the earlier models after you've finished off a roll.

* Quite possibly one of the most user-unfriendly rewind knobs I've ever encountered, yet it wasn't replaced for close to two decades.

I've a Zorki on the way that should take care of that "fun" for me.

The soviets certainly got the most out of their machining practices
**Not really their fault entirely however - seems the old Contax has the same fun feature:

Nah, the worst one is still the Leica M3's.

The FX3 was the export name of the FX2 in the picture - same camera. They do a fine job if one doesn't mind taking the time needed.

And Leica also invented one of the clumsiest film insert sequences with their removable base plate, only marginally improved by the flip-up back of the later M bodies. I think they only cured themselves of it when they introduced the original Leicaflex.
