Is that lens attached to a 517/16? I have one of those and I like the images it produces a lot. I've never found the slow lens to be a problem as long as I choose properly when I use the camera.
Yep. It's a 517/16.

Well then... just got first roll back from the Zorki 4k that I picked up to take the place of my Zorki 4 that has a shutter capping issue.
Seems I can't win.

I'm going to take a layer or two of black liquid e-tape to it this weekend, but yeah... bugger. :-/

Well that sucks! It seems that fate is dictating a short course in FSU shutter repair. Aki Asahi has replacement curtains.

Indeed. Threw a couple layers of liquid e-tape into it last night. Much better looking this morning shining the light through the back, but for the very edge - the rubberized coating is gone to the edge and it proved nearly impossible to coat all the way to the edge accurately with this crude method. Certainly not a permanent solution but should at least minimize the leak for a the time being.

Now there is one of my favorite combinations for certain. Mine are the black varieties. New-2-u?

Great looking kit there LennyB !

My silver MZ-3 did not come with a fancy box like that
I bought it used a few years ago. It sure is a great camera to use. It has gone on all our trips abroad since purchase.
Lately, most of my PF Monthly Photo Contest entries have been shot with the MZ-3.
(including this month's contest "Colorful". Think you can spot my film entry ?? )

Anyone give me an ID on this beautiful little number? Contax of some kind? It's a camera belonging to my lady's grandfather...

Ahhhh - finally answered my own question: Argus C3 I think it is.... with Coated Cintar 50/3.5.
Don't know a thing about these.

Yep.. Argus "the Brick" because it both looks like one and weighs about the same. Everything about it is clunky including the film advance. However....there were some professional war correspondents in WWII that actually managed to get some photos out of them. I've not been able to get anything out of mine that I'd call even respectable as an image.

I got another of the same vintage also made by Argus that was a lot lighter and had a funky do it yourself manual guess the proper exposure thing on top that required you to look for light coming through various size pin holes. One Screaming Eagle of the 3/506 jumped into Normandy with one. It's an Argus A2b. I have never had much luck with it either... although slightly more than the "brick".

Cheers Moe49 - It is quite a revelation to use such a light SLR after the heftier DSLR's of late.

It's difficult to find much information about this particular "kit" but I believe it is a "Limited Edition" MZ-3 which was produced to celebrate the launch of the now legendary FA43mm f1.9 lens. I can't find anything on how many of these kits were produced - I believe they were produced for the Japanese market only, but I can't be sure of that! There was also a "Special Edition" version which had gold trimmings and a small badge on the camera front denoting "Special Edition" - but I don't know if that one included the beautiful wooden box or not.

Would be interested to hear opinions about this camera purchased at a camera shop recently.
