I was finally able to grab the infamous K 50mm f1.2 and...

Oh my God! It's full of stars!

The serial number is 1200322, so I assume it's one of the first they made, as in the brochure I have (from 1976 I assume) the lens is 1200914:

I also spend an extortive amount of money for the original round hood, but as my camera tech says:"you only live once' (the gentleman is in his 80s).

The lens is a big beast...not as big as the Canon FD 55mm f1.2 but bigger than the FDn 50 mm f1.2, here there's a comparision with the 1.4 and the 55m f1.8:

Of course it landed in front of my K2DMD and I'm testing it right now.

Congratulations while they may not be as pretty or intuitive as their newer iterations once you get past the 1980's space invader style interface these are extremely well built and ultra reliable cameras. I have 2 of these that have been factory modified to have ½ stop EV compensation and they are just about bullet proof.
The 55mm 2.8 is probably my favourite lens on that camera.

Glenn
Thanks Glenn, appreciate your comment ... the interface is "OK" with me. The '80s were overall a good decade for me ... Ha!

The 55/2.8 is quite nice and glad to have it.

Simply beautiful! Looks like you have the lowest s/n for a K50/1.2 in the DB, you are lower by a couple over Jean's. It will be from 1975.

...and heavy.

Definitely not suited to the LX, IMO, however today I finished the test roll and I hope I can get developed soon to share my experience with this mythological lens.

Looks pretty good on mine . . . Ho - Ho - Ho . . .

It's not as awkward as the 58mm f1.2 on my XD-11!

Ha - now you have me sorting serials. I was just adding them for the insurance record.

Mine's the last/highest serial.
