I have recently managed to buy a K200/2.5 to add to my slowly growing collection of K series lenses. What a beast, but beautiful. Thanks Karl!

It seemed an appropriate body to use. It was the one fixed-up by Eric last year. I guessed you would appreciate it! K.

First - thanks for all the info that helping to decide whatgear to get - be lurking here for a couple months.

Have had the desire to do film again for a while. Had a OM-10FC through the 80's that was with me from Hawaii to the Artic Circle, through the Aleutian Islands, back to the Oregon Coast while in the Coast Guard and afterwards. Unfortunately, had to sell it to pay bills. Now, years later even though I have a K-3 & K-3II with some really good lenses, still missed film.

Already had the FA Limiteds, bought the KX & MX's from PF members over the last two months and the manual lenses from various places. Had each one checked out at Advanced Camera, a Authorized Pentax Repair shop, which is nearby. Paul is one of the tech's, who actually worked as a supervisor with Eric at the Chicago Pentax Center back in the day. I can verify he knows what he's doing, as he went above & beyond bringing those old cameras back to top condition at very reasonable price and did great job.

I've started scanning my negatives (Epson V800) so will be posting soon, a few photo's actually look pretty good

Beautiful indeed!

Perhaps OT (because of its lack of p0rn quality) but gear-related: you appear to be using a Manfrotto X-Pro 3 head. Would you recommend it?

Thanks for the offer, but that's all I need is to be tempted to buy another camera

I hear you. I purposefully avoid all potential exposure to MZ-s.

I am liking this Minolta Hi-Matic G.

It is battery dependent auto exposure. Which I generally dislike, if there is no manual option to over ride.
However this one does a needle capture exposure lock, by a half press of the shutter. Which lends some far ranging creative control on exposure and image appearance.
The zone focus is by estimation, but my experience with the old film folders with scale focus lets me do that well, and the 38mm short lens makes DOF easy.

Here are a couple of quick shots of my MX with K 50mm f/1.4. Taken with the K3 and K 28mm f/3.5. The MX, which I was using at the weekend, is currently loaded with Tri-X at 1600.

Except for a few specks (?) between the shutter speed dial and the prism n d a few other places on the top plate, that MX could almost be fresh out of the box.
The Minolta is a really lovely little 35mm no-excuse-for-not-taking-along camera, but pity it isn't fully manual. A grey card with half-press might be a useful way to exercise some exposure standardization and control.

The MX was my first SLR in the late 70's. The ONLY thing it might be lacking is a mirror lockup. I need to get mine in for service. I sold my original long ago, and replaced it a while back, but it needs seals and some TLC.

I had a Minolta G2 but a spring was off inside. The G model I have now works great, and for times when i want more control, I have the Petri 7 and the Olympus 35 RC. The Minolta really is a snapshot type, yet seems very adequate for that purpose, and street style shooting.
