Got to love the Helios 103 53/1.8. It is a little prone to flare, but I like mine enough that I bought a Amadeo adapter ($$) just to allow use on my Bessa R3M. Even at the combined price point, better than other options.

Hey Steve - do you have any comparison shots at all of your Helios-103 vs black Jupiter-8 on the Bessa?

No, though that is a real good idea and a good way to finish the roll in the camera.

Not here in Palo Alto. But it is both a wonderful group of equipment, and a beautiful photograph of them. Amongst all this equipment around here, let's not forget the photography.

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing a little problem with two of my cameras (one KX and one K2). The ring inside the mount that reads the aperture set on the lens has trouble making his way back toward f/22. It's very responsive for low apertures although. I wonder if some kind of oil applied without dessambling the mount could fix it ? If yes which product ? Or, from your experience, is it a problem related to the spring inside ?

Thanks

If the aperture rings are becoming stiff from years of dust and old grease, chances are the shutter mechanism will also be becoming gummed up with the same.
I think its time to have them sent off for a Clean,Lubricate,Adjust service, as they probably have never been serviced since new.
If your can't find someone in France to service your camera's, I used Harrow Technical in London, who did a good job sorting my KX with the same problems yours has.

I finished the custom cover upgrade on my Zenobia 645. When I was in Spokane, I noticed that the front side paper covers were loose and I was going to lose them eventually. I removed them, and decided to use Mahogany wood veneer to replace the black paper.

The DOF scale makes zone focus so much easier!!

Nice work. Gives a whole new perspective on the term "box camera."

Nice work on the Zenobia 645. I just picked up one of these that could use a new covering. But it first needed a lens cleaning so it is off to see Jurgen (certo6) atm.

Jurgen did a CLA and bellows replacement on my Agfa Billy 6x9 and I highly recommend him for work on these old folders.

This is my latest acquisition -- a Pentax-M 50mm f/4 Macro lens that I found mint in the box at the local camera store for $75. Against my better judgement, I snapped it up, and it takes some awesome pics. :-)

I had the original Pentax macro - 50mm f4 preset - for my Asahi Pentax S. Tiny front element so deeply recessed from the filter threads that no hood was needed. It was by any measure a fine lens.

I found my Pentax M 50mm F4 macro on a local CL listing and it came in a plastic bag . . .

If you didn't already know, it doesn't take awesome pictures but you do. However, it will provide you with particularly super sharp images - provided that is what you want. I tested mine using it on my Pentax K20D - as well as on my Pentax LX using Kodak Techpan. Based on the results, my not so mint in a box copy is not going to be the reason I cannot fully resolve a scene as sharply as I can possibly get it if that is my intent. So go out there and let that Pentax Macro lens enable you to take the sharpest pics you want . . .

My latest is to add to the collection of the early "S" models. Excuse the poor shot, but is gives some information. Chronologically it starts with the K and H2 below, then left to right, The latest acqusitions, The S3 and S1. To their right the S1A and SV. The S1 and S3 are in beautiful cosmetic shape, but the shutters are sluggish. The others are fully operational along with many duplicates of these. True, I don't have the pre K models, but those command a premium that deters me at the moment. The S1 is quite rare, about 46000 made.
