Here's a photo of my Kodak Retinette, a beautiful little camera.

That looks like the Retinette 1B. Have you tried it out yet? Some of my best pictures were with the Retinette 1A. (no rangefinder or light meter on it) Here is an example taken in 1961, you can see the date on the registration in the window.The Retinettes and Retinas until the early sixties were works of art. They went cheap and nasty after that.

Funny, I remember reading somewhere a LF shooter saying something to the effect "4x5 is the smallest format that provides real quality". I don't agree, but it is interesting to hear these things from a different perspective!

I have been having trouble lately with Paterson reels getting sticky despite thorough rinsing after use and a good brushing to remove residue. So I spent last night practicing with Hewes 35 and 120 reels and this film was developed entirely in metal (Hewes and Nikor tank).

Hewes are worth every penny.

Yes, it's a 1B and yes, I have used it, but just one roll of film. Link to my flickr album is below, but they're DSLR scans and, while nice and sharp, largely lack the nice tones of a proper scan.

Those came out well even if they could be better scanned. The quality of these German lenses is remarkably good.

My beloved black S3 is the lightest of my fully mechanical and meterless Pentax SLRs at just 578g. By contrast, my K weighs 590g and SL 604g. Coupled with an early ST50/1.4 it makes a very capable and comfortable street camera.

I also weigh my camera bodies and both my AP and K weight 576g which is closer to the weights listed in the camera reviews here. When I weighed my camera bodies I usually check the manuals to confirm but unfortunately, Pentax didn't document the weights for these early bodies in their manuals.

BTW, according to the reviews here, the weight for the S3 is 548g so your camera could be even lighter.

There wouldn't be much point to these old polaroid 4x5 conversions if the finder didn't work!

I want one, but I can't justify the money. I'll have to stick with my Graflex

Why a monopod head on top of a tripod? For large format I like having discreet pan and tilt on a level base. I already had the head (and panning clamp), et voila.
