I am somehow both surprised and not. I'd have thought it would be difficult to make an m39 lens that would mount on some cameras but not others.
Apparently it's not uncommon with FSU lenses... the strange part is that it mounts perfectly on my Voigtlander Bessa R...

Now I'm wondering if the tolerances on the Bessa were deliberately made wider in order to accommodate the large number of FSU lenses available.

(In a similar vein: none of my inner-bayonet Kiev lenses mount on either of my Contaxes. Which you'd also think wouldn't be an issue, given they were produced on machinery either made by or copied directly from machinery made by Zeiss.)

I have a really nice Jupiter-8 50/2, but it doesn't seem to want to mount on the Canon 7.

This surprises me as well, though perhaps it shouldn't. I have heard of some FSU lenses having threads cut to other than the Leica standard of 39mm x 26tpi (Whitworth) and of this causing problems.* My later production black-barrel J-8s thread easily on both my Canon P and the Fotodiox adapter I use with my Bessa R3M.

Steve

* I believe those were a variant of DIN thread profile and were just a hair too "fat". FWIW, my Jupiter-9 in Contax-Kiev mount has a 49mm filter thread that won't accept any filter or hood in my drawer.

Which model Contax? Which Kiev lenses? @Nesster (Jussi) has both Kiev and Contax bodies from 1957. IIRC, he is able to swap contemporary inner bayonet (normal) lenses freely between those bodies.

FWIW, I have the Amadeo Contax-M adapter and it mounts my Arsenal J-8M (1967) and Helios 103 (1983). At one point I had 1957 Kiev IIa with original J-8 ("true Contax II, Sonnar copies"). All three normals were equally happy on both cameras.

The J-8 starts threading fine, but tightens up before seating properly.
I plan to investigate further later on, but for now I'm happy to use my Industar-61 L/D and CV 35/2.5

The cameras are a Contax II from '37 and a IIa from '54. The lenses were a Jupiter-8M and a Helios-103. Don't recall the production dates on those; I gave them to a friend a few months back when I gave him my Kiev.

Though the Jupiter was a very tight fit even on the Kiev.

Stock up on the Fujicolor 200 if you like it - it's just been discontinued. I've never tried it but might try to grab a few rolls before it's all gone. For some reason I've always regarded 200 ISO film as neither here nor there - not for sunny days or overcast or indoor use either.

Enjoy the FP4+. I think it's the best B&W film ever, good to know that it's future is secure as it's manufactured by a company that's committed to film and seems to be properly managed.

I heard the Agfa whitelabel was discontinued, but I haven't seen anything about C200 itself being discontinued?

This isn't where I read it (I can't remember where that was), but seems to be credible: Fuji discontinues Superia 200 | PHOTRIO

C200 isn't discontinued - standard Superia 200 has been discontinued, leaving the cheaper C200 as Fuji's only 200-ISO film. This at the same time as the discontinuation of Agfa 200 suggests that it was either C200 and Fuji have decided not to allow re-packaging or that it was standard Superia 200. Personally I would have preferred them keeping the standard 200, but Fuji always leave the cheapest option available.

Okay, but the film canister in that picture looks to be C200, not Superia, hence my confusion.

I could stand it no longer... after well over two years of thinking about it, I found a good price on a "beater" and grabbed one before I'm completely priced out (which arguably has already happened :gulp:, since this beater was double what one would have paid for it 3 years ago).
But... No regrets. Handles just as expected: like my 67 with "niceties".
