I own three SF-1s. Two were DOA when I bought them (no returns, but, I got them for dirt cheap). The third has been hanging in there pretty well so far. Anybody know how to get an SF-1 "unstuck" with its mirror stuck in the Up position? Because of my own luck with the SF1, I hesitate to comment on its durability.
Yes, I have two 'dead' SF-1s and one working one. But I also have two Pentax AF 35-70s that were part of the deals, and I only need one. I'll sell the other, and the proceeds from that sale will pay for all three SF-1s and the two zooms. Which means I'll have gotten a working SF-1 with AF 35-70 for free. I love it when I can pull this sort of thing off.
